I plan to buy a NB b4 i go to UK for my further studies. After reading some of u guys post i starting to get the pic that DELL n ACER is the only NB brand i can get around as VALUE FOR MONEY in Malaysia. I also understand that DELL excel ACER in thier after sales service but in my case i need INTERNATIONAL after sales service!! Need some expert advice or suggestion regarding this field as both of them offer the same 1 year international traveller warranty! rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif
My budget is around RM4k-5k. Currently my choice will be ACER 5672WLMi with some memory upgrade til 1Gb. Btw i also insist that my NB is on NAPA platform! Many thanks first for your kind advice and suggestion!! notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

PS. I tend to buy the NB only around May and June!

It you can, avoid deciding by what people say. Go out, see them, touch them, tinker with it.... and see what you like. It's very very subjective... but usually, price is the final deciding factor. But despite negativity on certain brands, there are some gems as well... You can't really decide until you try or own one. GO to the fair... Spend some time there, get brochures. ask the sales people etc... That's what you gotta do - research.

And most notebook brands have international warranty. No worries there. Since you're going UK, check out which notebook brands are popular as you tend to get better service locations with increased popularity.

Asus gives 2 years international as standard. Lots of Asus users in the EU. They're all waiting for the W3J to come out tongue.gif..

Acer & Dell gives options to upgrade. Am sure toshibas, HPs have them as well. Find out and decide which one fits your cup to tea smile.gif

For international coverage, I think you're out of luck. Dell's 3yr warranty only covers up to the Asia Pacific region if I recall correction. I could be wrong though since I didn't bother to ask beyond the Australian region.
