QUOTE(mp3 @ Sep 28 2008, 02:55 PM) recommended to get the power source protection as well... the surge may come from power line and strike ur modem even though ur modem tel line protected by cal-lab... in facts we have few cases that power line can bring surge... FYI, SP9201DAF act as ADSL splitter filter... QUOTE(jimmy_none @ Sep 28 2008, 10:26 PM) i read the brochures..some stated you need to ground it...but some is not mention if it that particular device you need to ground it? what is the diff? the models required to be ground are SP9201DSL, SP9210DAF, MD-FC, MD-BNC, MDTV9922, etc which doesnt come with power source protection and no able to isolate the surge into earth... if the models come with power source protection and the surge able to isolate thru the power cable and going into earth... that the reasons are recommended to ground the grounding wire (if any) into any earth point or 3pin power socket's earth pin, otherwise the isolated surge no where to go and cal-lab unit chosen self-destruct to protect equipments effectively |

QUOTE(hotcold @ Oct 5 2008, 09:01 PM) hi gkl83, what do you recommend for hooking up to my house alarm system? (the one where when the alarm triggers, it will auto call the mobile phone) can be either SF9512D or SF9812D... (if ur alarm system have 3 pin power socket and RJ11 connector) protect the power source and tel source... This post has been edited by gkl83: Oct 5 2008, 10:18 PM |

Hi need advise what is best for lightning protection on Astro. I currently have the belkin 8 plug gold series power surge protector. On this surge protector it only has the normal TV aerial connection In/Out. I dont use this but only Astro. I need something to protect between the Astro Dish and the Decoder. What can you recomend? Will the MF-FC be enough or have to use in combination?

T__T SF9812DSL will suit for ur requirements "prone lightning area!!!" it wont effect ur connection speed and u wont feel it slow... but in technically may effect 1-3% because of filtration... if cal-lab devices will effect connection speed or it fail to protect equipment, i wont survive for 2 years+ at LYN... |
