My setup is pretty simple, I have a wireless ADSL AP, connect to the telephone line. The rest of the pc is connected via wireless. The telehone is nearby to the modem.  The pc's are not that concerning me,its more on protecting the wireless ADSL modem.
*

since u have telephone located nearby ur modem... highly believe that ur ADSL splitter filter locating nearby as well...
i recommend u to use SP9201DAF + MDSC0039 to protect modem and telephone... smile.gif

QUOTE(noos @ Oct 16 2008, 08:36 PM)
Can u recomend me a surge protector juz for the modem only?
Will the protector affect my internet connection (like hard to connect or slow sppeed)?

My area recently get heavy rain and heavy lightning, oredy burn 2 modem in less than 1 week...... T__T
*

SF9812DSL will suit for ur requirements "prone lightning area!!!" tongue.gif
it wont effect ur connection speed and u wont feel it slow... but in technically may effect 1-3% because of filtration...
if cal-lab devices will effect connection speed or it fail to protect equipment, i wont survive for 2 years+ at LYN... smile.gif

Hi, hope to get some recommendations.

Need protection for phone line (to telephone and modem) and power socket. Need ~8 3-pin power outlets :-\
*

expecting to protect telephone and modem which located at the same area/room?
so far only Twin Power Pack have 4*3pin and 6*2pin and support up to 2000w... enough for u?
all of ur equipments located at the same area/room too?

Yup everything is located quite close together. Aw, but I need all of it to be 3-pin sad.gif No other choices?
*

u can get 2 units of Twin Power Pack if u like to...
otherwise u can plug extensions socket on cal-lab units as well... it still will working charm...
but u must ensure everything within the protection boundary... otherwise may lead back surge that will damage ur equipment as well even thought protecting by cal-lab...

Ah cool, so basically will be cal-lab connected to the wall outlet, then connect an extension to the cal-lab unit yeah? But 2000W..my hairdryer alone is already ~1500W mellow.gif
*

yeah... just plug extension socket on cal-lab will do but must within the boundary...
if u want to protect ur hairdryer alone... u can get a SC0039 instead... smile.gif

I need for all. And the twin power pack doesn't support telephone lines and dsl, right? Is the maximum wattage for all 2kw?
*

a Twin Power Pack support maximum 2000watt only....
u can do combination with SP9201DAF in order to protect telephone and modem...

Hmm, let's say I have a computer in my room (running on 500W PSU), with modem router (which means with the phone line and ethernet cable) together with speakers...

Then in another room, there is one computer (another 500W PSU) with printers and speakers, and the ethernet cable runs all the way to my room to the modem router...

How do I protect these equipments in both rooms? Is there any cost effective product/solution? My modem router/network card/PSU been fried for numerous times already, there was a time when the phone line was burnt black as well doh.gif
*

here your setup accordingly to ur requirements...
since u have 2 rooms, means u have to protect 2 boundary by using at least 2 models...

i think i wanna buy SL-MS2+3 .. becoz i wanna use all da electric equip at da same time .. do you rekomen this unit?
*

it can support up to 2000w only... no recommended to use high power consumption equipments....
and u must ensure ur installation wont caused the back surge and damage ur laptop as well...
such as if u plug fax machine onto SLMS2+3 but tel line no protected... and lightning striked tel line and surge brought thru fax machine and going into SLMS2+3, and ur laptop connected SLMS2+3 and ur laptop may damage too...
i think better u list of the eqiupments u tend to protect by SLMS2+3...

*

yup... u can use multisocket as well...
but recommended avoid the iron bcos it is a high power consumption equipments and may overload cal-lab units...

GKL bro,

need a solution from you.

here's my setup:

adsl modem -> router -> switch -> wireless AP -> users(>15)

modem, router, switch, wireless AP will all be wall mounted ie same location in the roof.
phone line going into modem will (in the future) go out to the fax (maybe) / lined telephone.

Please suggest a few products and inc the price + postage to Sban.
ThankS!
*

if modem, router, switch, wireless AP and all the power source come from the same points...
and totally no wired lan cable involved.. and u may going to use fax machine and telephone from the tel line...
your choices will be SP9201DAF + MDSC0039
smile.gif

What if I'll be connecting a few wired LANs? Which one do I need to add on? Most likely will be about 6 LAN points RJ45 drawn to be fixed on various location with sockets for users to "plug in"

With that MDSC0039, it's sufficient to cover modem, router, switch, wireless AP? Yes, it'll be at the same location or at least drawing from the same circuit...

Thanks~
*

each of wired lan cable should protect by SLAN1236 on router/switch side...
but the PCs which connected with wired lan cable wont be within the protection boundary...
so your connection will be look like the picture below...

Thank for such detailed diagram, I like the illustration~
Once I start ordering the equipments, I'll order these from you~ Need to apply for fundings first b4 ordering stuff~

Question: Will the SP9201DAF and the SLAN1236 needed to be grounded?
*

yeap... SP9201DAF and SLAN1236 required to ground...
their grounding cable can connect to MDSC0039 or any of the earth points will do too... smile.gif

Please recommend me a suitable model, thanks!
*

SP9201DAF will used to protect telephone and modem...
but u required to use MDSC0039 to protect power source for modem and LAN switch...
also, recommended to protect lan cable also if u have wired lan cable involved with other PCs...
here the example of the PC networking...

SFTV9622FC, Protect:PATS
SFTV9622FC-MS2+3, Protect:PATS
What is the different between these 2 models?
*

SFTV9622FC-MS2+3 have more power socket than SFTV9622FC
SFTV9622FC only have 1*3pin power socket only

gkl bro, I'd like to proceed with the order. There are some slight changes, I'll juz purchase a SP9201DSL x 3 + MDSC0039 x 2 + postage to Sban = RM ??

Is the SP9201DSL compatible with adsl2? and does it come with analog + DSL?

Thanks! Let me know how to pay you and when will the items reach me. Thank you!
Please PM me best price ( I noticed some with discounts on ur main page ) If 9201DSL and 9201DAF about same price then I'd get DAF to provision for fax machine in future... Thank you!!
*

yup... SP9201DSL compatible with ADSL 2...
but if wanna for DSL + analog, recommended for SP9201DAF...
no recommended to use SP9201DSL for different type of signals (digital and analog)...

haha bro, return customer here, need your product again biggrin.gif

i'll be buying a new PC next week, so i need suggestion on what Cal-lab product for it. item to protect includes CPU, monitor, printer and speaker with CAT5 cable to the motherboard ethernet port.

also, for astro-related appliances, which one u suggest?the items include a TV, astro decoder and 5.1 speaker system.

and oh, btw, ur products is working great right now biggrin.gif though i still take off the plugs from the socket whenever there's lightning cos i'm used to it already..phobia of electrical items burnt because of lightning sad.gif
*

if u means without modem (tel line) nearby your new computer...
and the data connection only involved RJ45 lan cable... your choices will be SD-4C

if ur TV set without using antenna and no telephone line involved to astro or no telephone nearby...
MDSC0039FC should sufficient for u... ( Power + Astro )
otherwise u can choose SFTV9622FC / SFTV9822FC... ( Power + Astro + Antenna + Telephone) smile.gif
