it just mod the voltage from 1.2vol to 1.4vol (default voltage for 7900gtx)
so it wont change the gtx totally...but it almost the same.. |

it's NOT possible to mod a 7900GT to 7900GTX. There's still difference like the GTX has 512MB of ram while GT only has 256MB. The changing of core voltage is just voltage mod or overclocking. not a GT->GTx mod at all.

Maybe its just to increase the core/memory to go higher, anyway remember 6800GT bios volt mod from 1.3v to 1.4/1.5v to make it behave like 6800Ultra's could be the same thing. We won't know unless someone tries

QUOTE(rlhc17 @ Apr 6 2006, 09:44 PM) Wow...mind posting some screenies QUOTE(fantasy_kenny @ Apr 6 2006, 11:53 PM) Hard to belive it.... I don't know about 6800LE's but 6800GT's has a 80% success rate to become a 6800Ultra's, i've read it in a thread somewhere before trying to OC mine 6800series also got the guide like that.... 6800LE hardmod to 6800GT/6800Ultra but really is no all can do it,juz 20% can success QUOTE(KilJim @ Apr 7 2006, 12:06 AM) I don't think that it will be detected as a GTX coz u have to flash the graphic card bios in order for the PC/softwares/etc to detected the card as a GTX. I think compatiblility will be an issue if the board design and memory capacity are different u'll have to check it out 1st before tring this,if one wants to flash their 7900GT's to 7900GTX's bios Also advantages? OC baby,oc like crazy This post has been edited by DaBaD: Apr 7 2006, 02:23 AM |

i dont think flashing it with 7900gtx bios will work due to difference in the size of the memory. so this is basically a voltage mod that allows overclocking on the core to >650mhz, which is the speed of the 7900gtx core. thats all.

QUOTE(fantasy_kenny @ Apr 6 2006, 11:53 PM) Hard to belive it.... The 6800LE doesnt involve any hardmodding at all6800series also got the guide like that.... 6800LE hardmod to 6800GT/6800Ultra but really is no all can do it,juz 20% can success It's purely softmodding, so depending on your luck you might get an extra 4-8 pipes, or you might not This guide, i assume involves hardmodding physically So what do you gain actually with the extra voltage? Some extra overclockability i assume? |
