I gotta say, having the X100S for a few weeks now, 1 thing was puzzling until today... the OVF frame box shifting after shutter half pressed...

It has to do with parallax error, this article helps a lot in my understanding.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/FujifilmX100/6

smile.gif still a noob when operating this camera, from someone coming from D90, scratched my head. I guess reading reviews and also the camera's manual helps ^^

no more wrongly focus on stuff when relying on OVF, at least not by a big margin smile.gif

guys, a question here, anyone uses the Eye-Fi card before?

how's the write speed compared to say, a dedicated Class 10 SD card? I'm using Sanddisk Extreme series.

2nd question, I know they said it drains the already-not-so-great battery of X100S, does it take a further toll on it significantly? Can I just enable the wireless feature only if I wanted to transfer pictures?

Since Eye-Fi card suppose to work with any camera on the market, what benefits does X100S has to tout a feature with Eye-Fi anyway?

Any info would be grateful before I spill some cash in it.. thanks!

Hi,

Being asked about this a few times,

X100 is a very good camera. Good form factor, reasonable sharp picture due to its lens, vibrant fuji color, Very good high ISO up to 3200 etc etc. The thing that really bring down X100 is 3 things:

1) Average auto focus speed, especially in low light
2) Processor, slow start up, slow reading / write speed
3) its fix lens (some see it as cons)

If you can manage and adapt to the 3 given points, X100 is a superb camera and can produce really good picture.

X100s fixed point 1 and 2, focus is faster and more accurate especially with manual focus, new processor fasten the start up / write / read speed.

The faster focus speed may not be important for all, but for someone like me who wander the street for shoot, this is vital. Statically, i have more "keeper" now compare with X100

X100s also enhance many of the pros, e.g. ISO now usable up to 6400. (Personally this is a very big thing)

New sensor with higher megapixel may not gives alot of different, but with its omission of anti leasing filter, it seems sharper

In Sum,

If you dont own X100, and deciding between X100 and X100s

Buy X100s If you have the money,
Buy X100s If you have insufficient funds now, and not hurry to use a camera, save money.
Buy X100 then If you have insufficient funds now, but hurry to use a camera.

If you already own X100 and deciding whether to upgrade.

Simple. Upgrade if you have the money

the battery bar thingy is an understatement. It died on me like twice.

first, 3 bars... then 30mins.. drops till 1 bar.. shortly after that, dead.

I've bought a third party battery for RM60, Fuji ori costs around RM140. i might grab 1 more, so 3 for me to be safe.

Also, does the battery charge slowly? i think it took like 4 - 5 hours until the LED turn off. sad.gif for a completely flat battery.

hmmm, having a look at the battery, it showed no brand at all.

Just these :-

BATTERY PACK
NP-95
3.7V 1800mAh Li-ion

(made in China) at the back.

Should I not use it? I have just charged it to full, haven't start using yet. sigh, should i just bite the bullet and get the ori one?
