Anyone getting the X-E2???
*
I might consider...

I used to own an X100 and X-E1 and although I loved the image quality, the AF was sooooo terribad back then (early firmwares, dk about now)

IF the X-E2 shows dramatic improvement in AF compared to my previous experience (ESPECIALLY ACCURACY IN LOWLIGHT. I went for a party with my X-E1 and had 0 useable shots once, because I couldn't focus on anything -.- No focus peaking back then too, and the EVF lags in low light back then) I might consider it. Am planning to retire from FF since I really can't use it to its full potential and go for something with a small form factor. Hesitating to go m4/3 because of the sensor size and ISO performance.

X-E2 does seem promising in all aspects though...EXCEPT the EVF.

But really, Fuji seems to be one of those brands that constantly cares for their current users with the firmware updates and all, and I do wish they'll come up with something like the OMD next year! (in terms of AF speed and EVF)

My lecturer was a street photographer, he said that he can focus faster than most of the AF out there with manual focus, we shook our heads silently until I learnt zone focusing/pre-focusing.

Some insights on pre-focusing.

and further reading on mastering the x-pro1.

You think Fuji X-Pro1 has slow or bad Autofocus, No it hasn’t, you just have to learn how to shoot with it properly!

I wonder if it's any useful in low light with an EVF ):

My x100 experience was terribad since it practically didn't have a proper MF system and my X-E1's EVF would lag so badly that it was just impossible to MF under low lighting conditions.

I'm thinking of using it with rangefinder lenses only, so I'm not too worried about the AF speed. . . coz I think nowadays tech is changing so rapidly that investing solely on one brand's system or lenses isn't really that wise, at least IMO. Also, rangefinder lenses tend to have longer life span due to its design and build quality. And manual focusing give u a more engaging experience and feel when taking and composing a photo.  laugh.gif

Actually, I was thinking of the same things too.

If I went mirrorless, I would be able to use legacy/rangefinder lenses and the experience of MF-ing would make me think more about my shot. But I'm not heavily funded, and the only work I do with my camera is to cover events at my uni. I'm confident that something like an OMD can do the job just fine, but I'm not a big fan of the m4/3 sensors and their 35mm equiv lenses, also the OMD em1 is at least 1k more than the XE2. Also, having used two fuji's before, I would say that I do enjoy the color that a Fuji can produce even though I personally own an FF dslr currently.

But it's too big and I can't carry it around as much as I want to, so it's becoming a white elephant...

Anyway, when you say rangefinder lenses, do you mean only those by Voightlander and Leica? If I'm not wrong, the price of an Leica 50mm can buy a second hand kancil lol

Yes, I was panning the camera while in the evf, it was really nice.  laugh.gif

How much better is the EVF compared to the X-E1?

Still in a dilemma as I do feel the need to go mirrorless and sell my 6D, but after using my friends 650D during a trip, I realized how much I'll miss my viewfinder ):

It's been around a year since I sold off my X-E1, is the viewfinder size significantly smaller than the a7's?

A7 vs XE1 viewfinder.....for example, both also 1080p video, xe1 is shot with okok camera with lower fps while A7 is shot with very good camera with 60fps....actually the diff is not very big...just ahead better....

u mean u miss ur xe1 vf or dslr one?

I'm not really picky with resolution OR framerate TBH.

The X-E1's EVF was exceptionally bad only because (if I remember) the lag in low light was so bad that MF-ing in low light with magnification was nearly impossible.

The thing is, when I went FF, Idk if I noticed it but the viewfinder is soo comfortable. (In terms of size) I used to shoot an a77 DSL-t for awhile and was a fan of the EVF, but I don't seem to remember the size of it. All I know is then when I shoot with my friends entry level DSLR, the optical VF is soooo small that its so hard to compose.

So I fear that if I go X-E2, I won't be able to get used to the size of the viewfinder (wearing specs) and emo.

The x-e2 + 23mm 1.4 will save me alot of cash, while getting the a7 will break the bank. I won't be staying in malaysia for long, so will definitely need a small system to bring overseas. But looking at Fuji's jpegs...arghhh to tempting!

Well, I played with an x100 on a trip to cambodia and I really wasn't a fan of the OVF. But I am waiting for febuary to see what Fuji will be showing off though tongue.gif

I would prefer EVF now because I really want to get into using MF lenses! They're cheap and they seem pretty good!

i dont really understand u said u prefer FF camera vf...the 6D u using is an OVF right?
but why on later comment u said u not a fan of OVF on x100....so u prefer EVF right?

i think both OVF and EVF has its strengths....on X100s i prefer EVF because I just love the correct viewing angle compare to the parallax error on OVF....

but on the other hand, while using rangefinder like leica I can live with the OVF with parallax error....maybe the shooting exp is different.....

anyway, fuji EVF really not that bad...it is not that bad which will affect the shooting exp....

I was implying that I liked the FF OVF simply because its bigger (don't have to squint my eyes)

x100 was ok size, but the parrallax correction and the AF in OVF mode wasn't cool.
