1 of my buddies during my during Perhentian trip used this so call duckie Fins.

My pov, less power as per Split fins. Needs smaller kick cycle like split fins but more kick cycles to achieve the same distance covers by the split fins. Good s damn save space n convenient for traveling.

Yes better get AOW before going sipadan. Or at least gain more experience and practice buoyancy first.

in order to dive Sipadan, we need to have AOW cert?  sweat.gif
*
The last few times I went, you don't have to. But if you are not experience enough and can't control your bouyancy well, you might find it a little challenging to dive there. If your DM is strict, you'll also have to stay above 18m, but most of the stuffs are not that deep anyway. laugh.gif

a bit panic for first 18m dive, see thing total different in the underwater world. worry that swim too slow then leave behind by the team.. cry.gif
*
Don't worry too much. Sounds like you are being overly stressed out about it and it will definitely affect how much you enjoy diving.
Make sure your buddy knows that you are a beginner. Most important thing is to calm down and take your time. Being panic will not get you anywhere nearer to the group. Take your time and look around, get familiar with the surroundings and your equipments. When you feel comfortable in the water, you will enjoy diving more. You can always catch up with the group at your own pace. If you're not comfortable, you can all off the dive and wait on the boat, dive within your limits, do not force yourself.

3 dives a day is normal. Some people can do up to 6-7 dives a day. laugh.gif
Practice definitely makes perfect when it comes to diving. But experienced divers shouldn't be too confident as well.

Hello divers, my sister is interested to take the open water cert. can u guys suggest any dive center near klang / shah alam / subang with good pricing/package? thanks

A few dive centers in Klang, they are pretty good.
Would suggest that your sister wait for July MIDE to get better deals. Ask her to join this forum! wink.gif

You don't need to purchase any equipment if you are planning to take up the OW course. What you may want to consider is getting a power mask if you are short sighted. You can also wear contacts while diving so you don't have to buy anything.

Wetsuits can be difficult to wear and most divers don't really wear wetsuits when diving in Malaysia waters. As for other equipments, complete your course first and try out the various types of equipment available before you throw your money into what you want.

Hi everyone, i would like to ask about diving. Im planning to take diving course soon. Can anyone can suggest me the best place to start it and how much the price range to complete one diving course? Thanks in advance
*
You can refer to the first post and some other posts here where other members have already shared how much they paid, for which dive centers and which course.

You can also wait for MIDE in July to get the best deals.

If you want a recommendation, please state your preffered location.

Hi munkeyflo, thanks for replied my question. Im prefer either pahang or terengganu. Oh if like that better i wait for the mide. Because last wednesday i went to dive station at mid valley to enquire about this kind of things. Thanks
*
Hm, I'm not familiar with pahang or Terengganu since most of us here are within Klang valley.
MIDE will be in July at PWTC, details on the first page. Usually will have lots of good deals on courses, trips and also equipments. biggrin.gif
Dive station is known to be a little on the high side, there are many smaller dive centers around in Klang valley/KL area. You'll also have to check where they will be having the confine sessions, on top of which island they'll bring you too.

Congrats! Welcome to the underwater world rclxms.gif
Actually kinda packed to the brim edi for the coming 24-26 may. But if you're going on your own, maybe we can meet up for some drinks there or something. We are also planning for Tenggol LOB trip end of June (not sure if full edi or not cause 8 pax only) and weekend tioman trip some other time in July or August. Some of us also planning Maldives trip next January. All the events on our Facebook page.

Erm, I guess I can fit since I try DSD before and the wetsuit provide are suit as my body size.  biggrin.gif
Oh, I see. I think mask is required for me because my nose is kinda small.  smile.gif  Thanks for the comments anyway.
Hi guys, just want to ask is there any recommended dive shops around K.L or Klang Valley that provides PADI OWD course? because I did some research for the available dive shops within the klang valley area and kl area, and till now I'm not sure which dive center that I can choose from?

Do you guys have any recommendations? Thanks.
*
Wetsuit usually no problem. Worse come to worse, just wear tshirt and board shorts. Or you can go get a rash guard, which can also be useful for any other watersports other than diving.
We Asian mostly have smaller nose. The western brands may not fit very nicely but you can still use it, just a little harder. Try looking at IST if you're planning to get a cheap mask. The other brand that can fit Asian nose is also Tusa.

Many dive centers around and almost all, if not all, provides Padi OW course.
What I suggest is to take some time and speak to the various dive center and see which one that you feel is comfortable and convenient for you. Most of the divers here seem to have gotten their license from Diver Den in PJ, maybe you can check them out too. smile.gif
