Are these on every pole of just one or two every few km?

What are the nearby buildings? Commercial shophouses/factory lots, business centres or just homes directly in front of them?

They seem like termination points for wiring up mobile base stations or providing end to end leased lines for commercial sites such as banks etc.

Celcom Timur is a joint venture between Sabah government and Celcom in East Malaysia which deals with laying dark fibre for leasing. They're not into providing internet and ISP business but leased their dark fibres to other ISPs/telcos who needs them for backhaul.

Nothing on their site saying that they're providing internet services except fibre leasing and backhaul links for mobile base stations.

I noticed the white pole in front of the houses there doesn't have a FDP box like the TM one next to it.

We also have similar setups in West Malaysia where Maxis/Time also run fiber on separate poles/TNB poles to remote sites such as base stations/offices and banks.They have green or red stripes just like the one you see with Celcom Timur's blue one.

Green Stripe = Maxis
Red Stripe = Time DotCom/DiGi
Blue Stripe = Celcom Timur
Yellow Stripe = TM
White Stripe = Possibly other companies???

Trace where the line is going. If it's in front of some factory unit, mobile site or office, they might be using it to leased dark fibre for leased lines and mobile backhaul links.
