FIRST XIAOMI SMARTPHONE IN SINGAPORE TO LAUNCH FEBRUARY 21 FOR SG$169
BY PANG TUN YAU , 8 HOURS AGO

http://www.lowyat.net/2014/02/first-xiaomi...y-21-for-sg169/

Chinese smartphone makers Xiaomi, who recently announced its entry into the Singaporean market, has announced that it will launch the company’s first smartphone in the country on February 21. And, typical of the company, the Redmi (the name of the device) will retail at a rock-bottom SG$169 (about RM450).
The Redmi is a budget smartphone which debuted as the Hongmi in China late last year. It is powered by a Mediatek M6589T quad-core 1.5GHz processor with 1GB of RAM and 4GB on-board storage, which is expandable with microSD cards up to 32GB. The Redmi also sports a sharp 4.7-inch 720p IPS display (312ppi) and is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2. Also, the Redmi features a 8MP rear camera that can record 1080p 30fps video, and a 1.3MP front-facing camera. Rounding up the specs sheet is a 2000mAh battery, and dual-SIM support.
Judging by the specs and price, it looks like the Xiaomi Redmi is likely to prove a hit down south, where its closest competitor, the Motorola Moto G, retails for SG$318.

Breaking: Xiaomi to Enter Malaysian Market in Two Months

http://www.lowyat.net/2014/02/breaking-xia...-in-two-months/

As it turns out, the Xiaomi press conference from this morning also revealed the company’s vision with Malaysia. In an interview with HardwareZone Singapore, Xiaomi Global Vice President Hugo Barra has revealed that Malaysia has been selected as the next market in its global expansion, and will be expanding into the country “in the next two months”.

In addition, Barra also revealed that Xiaomi is planning to enter all markets in the Southeast Asian region, and it is currently studying where to set up operations in the region.

This should come as excellent news to Malaysians, especially considering Xiaomi’s portfolio of competitively-priced and compelling products. The Redmi, for example, offers just as much value for money as the Motorola Moto G; while the flagship Mi3 is touted as “the world’s fastest smartphone” with an Antutu benchmark score of over 36,000.

If that's the case wouldn't Singapore be cheaper?

Under current exchange rate, it will cost ~RM450.
