See Post #1, it's a promotional rate, after promotion is over, it'll go down to 3.25% which is fairly standard.

Am Bank eFD offers extra 0.2% p.a. on top of board rate for life:

http://www.ambankgroup.com/en/Promotions/D.../Pages/eFD.aspx

Where did you get 0.05%?
*
0.2% above board rate is current promotion due to expire, 0.05% has been there since e-FD offered by AmBank.

Wow...that's just silly.

Not a surprise because there's no MACH branch in Penang.
*
At first I thought it'd be nice to have HLB branches running on shopping centre operating hours...

Me: "Hi, Mach by HL branch open until night, right?"
HL guy: "Yes."
Me: "U see, I have accounts with HLB, can I do transactions here?"
HL guy: "Yes."
Me: "Unit trust transactions?"
HL: "Errr...no."

Guys, let's say I place a FD for 1 month tenure, starting from 13/05/13 to 13/06/13.

In terms of calculating the interest, do I count it as 30 days or 31 days?

And the interest starts from 13/05/13 or 14/05/13?
*
Count in term of EXACT DAYS.

Start from the day u place.

What is considered as "exact days"?

If the interest starts from the day I place, then do I get interest on 13/06/13?
*
Based on my calculation, yes

So, 13/05/13 to 13/06/13 = 32 days.

Principal x 32 x IR /365, am I correct?
*
No no no, 31 days. Sorry tongue.gif

e.g. 13/05/13 to 14/05/13 is considered 1 day

Giro is via IBG, and fees for all banks is now 10cents.
Fyi, giro cut off time now for most banks extended to 12noon/12.30pm work day(depending on bank)
This means if you giro by 12noon, your beneficiary will receive the funds on the same day(different bank, different crediting time)
If compare to Rentas, rentas cutoff time is later and higher fees.
*
From my experience it's usually end of day i.e. night

Thanks for sharing.
From what I can see is Affin bank offered the best balance. 3.6% for 12 months, PIDM protection and you can put in minimum RM500/cert. Which means if you are free enough you can place a FD for each calendar date.
