One question, my FD with UOB is maturing in June and will be placed under normal (current) board rate. Assuming that there will be a new promo that time, how can I beat the fresh-fund-only criteria? Any tricks? biggrin.gif

Place a new FD using your 2nd banker's chq then RENTAS the matured FD money to cover your 2nd banker's account.

If sket bounce chq, do the RENTAS in the morning then give chq upon RENTAS clearance in the afternoon.  If you have RM, sign siap siap and give everything to her and let her kautim.
Thank you.

If I get it right, it works like this:
1- Uplift the matured FD (Bank Y) in the morning and GIRO/RENTAS to another bank X.
2- When the GIRO/RENTAS is cleared in the afternoon, then get bank X to issue a banker's cheque.
3- Place FD at Bank Y using the new banker's cheque.

Hmm, means I will need to spend my morning and afternoon at he the two banks.

Some banks will deem the same amount withdraw = amount deposit to be non-fresh funds.
Actually you can do in the same bank,
Withdraw FD at 9:30am as cash
Open FD + $xx cash/cheque at 10:30am.

Worth a try too smile.gif

Banker's Cheque Fee purely for FD Upliftment/Withdrawal (Do not combine with other accounts, i.e. Savings Account)
UOB - RM0.15 (in Penang) or RM2.15 (in Klang Valley!!!???) Conflicting reports.

Anyone else with recent experience for UOB on the fee? biggrin.gif

Just to confirm, if my FD matures on 28th June, I can uplift it on 28th June itself without any penalty, correct?

I had made 3 withdrawals quite recently in PJ Branch, UOB only charged 0.15 sen for the stamp duty on condition that the amount is not split.  Principal + interest earned in one lump sum and has to be in the same name.

okay thank you for sharing this info. I will request for the same thing thumbup.gif

Hello guys,

If I want to check with OCBC whether their FD promo is still available (the max fund is not reached yet), do I call the HQ or my home state branch?

Just to confirm, the 3.70% pa for 12 months promo is direct and not linked to any SACA right?

Thank you

Ocbc bonus saver is a continuation of current promotion which is supposed to end on 30 June. It is being carried forward with same terms and conditions.

Current 3.7% straight FD for 12 months will end on 30 Jun. it will be replaced by 3.7% FD for 13 months, joined account. Max allowed is RM500k.

Any insider info whether the 1.5 billion cap for the current 12 months FD is reached?

Not sure if the policy is the same for OCBC, do I need to bring along the other person if I want to open a joint account together? Thank you.

Okay thanks. Tomorrow is the D-day.

Best case scenario - UOB allow me to place my uplifted FD to the current promo (not fresh fund)
Back up scenario - Uplift UOB, place at OCBC promo.
Worst case scenario - the cap for the current scenario has been reached sweat.gif

Worse case scenario, are you referring to the 3.7%, joint account promo? Bank staff told me July onwards still available except change to 13 months...
*
Yup, the joint acc promo. If it really ended already, might wait for next Monday for this 13 months promo smile.gif

Just back from my FD trip!

UOB insisted to have fresh fund for the promo. The most, they can only accept 50% of the fund. So I inquired on the banker's cheque fee. The staff said it is RM2.15. So I told her about the RM0.15 and its condition. Even the manager is not aware it. RM2.15 has always been their practice. Nevertheless, she said she will give me RM0.15 for this time, haha, but being a pain, I said I will be insisting for the RM0.15 in future too so she better check with the HQ next time. I paid RM0.15 only for 4 cheques laugh.gif

Then went to OCBC for 3.70% 12 months. Dealing with the officer was pleasant but got slightly mad with the staff that is issuing the cert. He kept entertaining other customers who came later and put my documents aside. After 20 mins of waiting and observing, I said I would like to speak to the manager, then only settle doh.gif

This is strange because the DU UOB Branch had always been charging me only RM0.15 stamp duty for a cheque whenever I withdrew my matured FD without any insistence whatsoever.

Thanks for stating the branch location. Another branch that I can used to ask them to check with, in case they still insist on RM2.15 in future. This thread is amazing! rclxms.gif

p/s the exchange with the UOB lady was pleasant blush.gif

It will make our life easier if they accept minimum fresh fund + matured FD with interest for new promos biggrin.gif
