QUOTE(gsc @ Mar 28 2013, 08:32 PM) Ocbc FD contine till end June. 3 month 4.5% pa, 1/3 to saving and 2/3 to FD. Fresh fund only. For existing fund, 3.4% for 3 monts or 12 months. Those who dont want to move around may continue with Ocbc. The offer rate is comparatively good as other bank will drop to board rate after promo FD rate is over Good to know. Very well to continue for another 3 months since there's no better option for a 3-month FD tenure.

QUOTE(smsbusiness2u @ Apr 8 2013, 11:30 PM) u may open many OCBC Smart Saver account in the same branch via phone banking or internet banking. Interesting, I will try it this week via online banking. Any min amount? I plan to continue the FD combo but I don't want to keep the rest in SS which will only earn 2.9% rate. 1) FD combo - matured on 15 Apr (1/3 in SS) 2) FD in another bank - matured on 20 Apr I plan to combine the amount in FD combo with the FD matured on 20 Apr to open a new FD combo but by using a new SS account so that the fund in early SS can be withdrawn after 30 Apr. Possible with your method?

QUOTE(gsc @ Apr 10 2013, 12:23 PM) 15 apr withdraw everything and close SS. 20 Apr open new combo and new SS. you will get 0.5 % interest on SS but you can "recycle" your SS fund or Transfer FD into SS on 15 april, close and withdraw SS on 30 April. 20 Apr transfer matured FD into SS. 1 May open new FD combo and SS. In April you will get full 2.9% Calculate and compare interest lost and gain as you know only the principal amount. Thanks for the suggestion. I've a question on the bold font. If I open new FD on 1 May, the SS needs to be a new one or else I still need to keep the full amount that I've from April because otherwise I will only get 0.5% rate for SS in May. Correct?

For Bank Rakyat FD, if the FD has matured, will it auto-renew with the same rate as previous year? Not sure HLB Mach FD promo will be continued in May? Otherwise, other than OCBC FD combo and BR FD, the next one for mid-term FD (3 or 6 months tenure) will be UOB 3-month tenure @ 3.5% only.

QUOTE(tbheng @ May 1 2013, 05:37 PM) For BR, yes. If you negotiated higher rate, it will renew with the negotiated rate. That's what I was told by BR when placing my first FD with them early this year. Just went to the branch today to check whether the previous FD is auto-renewed. They confirmed it's auto-renewed with the same 4.01% rate even though it's not stated in the slip/receipt. I hope it's ok. This post has been edited by 1282009: May 6 2013, 08:44 PM

QUOTE(magika @ May 6 2013, 10:07 PM) Did you get new FD cert ? Make sure what is printed there tally with your calculation. I did have problem with a few of my cert after maturity. Must make sure the printed amount tally no matter what has been said. Nop, verbally only I will check if they will provide new cert for the auto-renewal. Thanks for highlighting.

QUOTE(RO Player @ May 10 2013, 07:28 AM) login M2U MBB website...apply online... then switch to your SA to M2U acc...but please read the conditions.. Thanks guys. I found the option in MB2U and I read the info at the site but it does not mention the charges for 3rd party transfer to another bank by using this a/c. Is it same as normal MB2U 3rd party transfer which is RM2 per transaction? It seems M2U Savers-i is slightly better compared to M2U Savers as there's also interest for balance below RM2k.

QUOTE(ronnie @ May 11 2013, 07:16 AM) Yes, M2U Savers-i is BETTER than M2U Savers (as balance between RM250 to RM2k gets 0.4% p.a. interest, creditted monthly) I've opened my M2U Savers-i

QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ May 17 2013, 08:31 PM) This afternoon I went to OCBC and found out I was allowed to open extra Smart Savers account at the same branch, then I quick-quick placed a 3 Months FD at 4.5%, 2/3 of fund put in FD (4.5%), and 1/3 put in new Smart Savers (can get maximum 2.9% rate if deposit RM 1k in the Smart Savers during the second and third month). OCBC calls this 3 months FD promo as Savings Promotion. Here is the latest promotion flyer from OCBC: [attachmentid=3443679] This is good news. My SS will end by this month (tied to previous FD combo). So on 3rd Jun I can go to the branch and open another new saving a/c and create a new FD.

QUOTE(ronnie @ May 29 2013, 01:48 PM) UOB eAccount (CASA) revising their Interest Rate from 1 June 2013 You can temporary place funds while waiting for better promo FD rates. UOB eAccount offers FREE Interbank Giro (IBG) fees too. Too bad, had just opened MBB i-Saver a/c.
