Public Bank is honest to tell you the Effective 12-month FD Rate for this is 4.16%
Looks OK lah.... not too bad with PIDM guarantee.

You get monthly FD interest creditted into the PLUS Savings Account.
*
At 8:2 ratio you will only get 3.3728%

IBG max limit s RM500k per day...not RM10k per day..

I think that limit is for Bank Rakyat over the counter only. MBB is RM10k per day.

I suddenly recalled this issue.

You can sign-up 3 new Premier joint-accounts at a time.

Assume 3 persons: You, father, mother

First Premier Account: You as the primary name, father as the secondary name

Second Premier Account: Father as the primary name, you as the secondary name

Third Premier Account: Mother as the primary name, you or father as the secondary name
*
Each Premier Account must make sure only one apply for Premier status , if not then wont qualify.

Hmm.. bought some FD on Maybank2u online few days ago.
Status said: Accepted.
But no changes to my account or my balance.

Strange
*
Maybank online FD should only choose Islamic type and not others if i am not wrong. Choosing others will caused it to be rejected even if the status shows accepted. A few days later you will received a call from MBB asking whether to proceed with the placement.

No No no no no...  One exception case did happen, OCBC RM tried to cheat my gold art.  mad.gif
I mentioned this con case last time, I believe you knew about it.

Better to check around and make sure what gift promotion does the bank have before we go. Trust no RM..bruce.gif
*
Normally free gifts from OCBC, you will be required to sign a receiving letter. The same applies to previous Secret Recipe vouchers that i had received.

Note: my sequential replies are not combiining event though the check box is not ticked ???

If you use banker's cheque, you can get the FD cert. on the same day from BR.
*
It very much depend on individual branch policy. If you observed certain branches does not have many staff to do the immediate processing.

ps: my replies are not combining?

It will not combine if you reply a single quote one at a time.  You need to tap/click on the quote buttons of all posts you intended to reply then click/tap the "more options" button.

I would prefer to read all quotes in one post rather than several posts. More orderly and neat. Replying quotes in several individual posts will stretch out this thread and it will cause "new to thread" readers longer time to look for essential information.

Sometimes uncombined post is inevitable due to timing but i hope all regulars here try your best to combine quotes using the above method. icon_rolleyes.gif

Got it.

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Jun 12 2013, 09:16 AM)
After my earlier reply, I suspect that it may depends on their branches. BR seems to operate differently based on branches on gifts given, even FD rates. Anyway I have not been back there to place FD since Feb this year.
*
I may be wrong. But i overheard BR manager talking with their HQ, it seems all extra % rates are charged to the individual branch OPEX.

Yes, I signed on a receiving letter, that was about 2 weeks after I finally received the gold art.

Oh.. the Parkson RM 100 voucher that I mentioned previous was supposed to be Secret Recipe?

Weeks have passed...my referrer has visited his BR branch twice to update his SA but couldn't trace the incentive. Is there any other option to check it instead of going over to the counter to update the passbook?

Must make sure that introducer is single name account not joint .

that i know. what i meant is that if i withdraw prematurely let's say on the third year for a 5 year period lock down.
bank rakyat will not pay the difference between the 3rd and 5th year, instead the current board rate of the bank will be paid instead.
*the 1st,2nd,3rd,4th & 5th year FD rate is different from the board rate
*
Its monthly rated. For your example if premature withdrawal at 36 months is at 2.83% rate calculation. Never tested before, however was shown a premature withdrawal rate table before. cool2.gif

can let me know what's the premature withdrawal rate for a FD for 12-month but withdraw on the 5th or 6th month?
*
5th month = 2.20%
6th month = 2.32%

Does not matter deposit tenure how long.

Disclaimer: Dont shoot me as i am not sure whether it still applies. Not BR staff. laugh.gif

Ps: Sometimes even the Manager is not sure of a lot of things. Thats why very often, they prefer to refer to their Hq for the specfic Pekeling/Arahan. Its also to absolve them of any mistakes. Thats how gomen mentality works.

i feel BR staff don't know a lot of things and whenever i asked a question, they need to refer to their manager. makes me loose confident in them and considering to move to more professional bank such as OCBC...
*
Grass is always greener on the other side.. tongue.gif
Is OCBC more professional? I have arguments with their branch manager before. I have also lodge a complaint against one of their branches. I have also lodge complains against Maybank and also .......others. brows.gif

The exec told me it'll be 3.65% for 5th month & 3.75% for 6th month withdrawal vmad.gif

If the rates are around 2%, I don't think I'll withdraw my FD prematurely. Not worth it.
*
This one if you apply your thinking cap, you will know no logic. Like this I will deposit for 601 months if no premature withdrawal disadvantage. However Islamic FD at least will pay more than 50% board rate, conventional FD (hopeful I m wrong) will pay eggs. biggrin.gif

went to OCBC the other day to enquire about the 4.5% FD promo. RM told me that in order to enjoy the promo rate, one have to put in min 10k in FD, and 5k in savings. hence after i average it out, it only came up to 3%. means u deposit 15k in total, but the interest will be paid only to the 10k. the other 5k interest will be 0.25% based on the savings account. which i assume is non-existent. sigh
*
Its better to stay away from complicated FD deposit, if you are adverse to understanding terms that even accountant could not comprehend. Find something more beneficial to do with the time saved. cool2.gif

Agreed. I kena "conned" by the same exec regarding the introducer commission. Before I place my FD, do this, do that, my referrer can get commission. But once the FD was placed, suddenly not entitled for the commission. Damn stupiak & useless exec mad.gif  vmad.gif
*
Only once per person that is being introduced who has not deposit with BR before. Referal must have single name Saving Account. cool2.gif

well, service wise is subjective. i am talking about knowledge wise, once u go BR you'll know..
*
One of the important rule dealing with financial matters is to do your homework first, then think if its too good to be true then it is not true. So since you know their level of knowledge, then you work with what is stated in black & white. My OCBC RM once told me to deposit my cheque at the counter itself, so since then I did everything at the counter. One of the officers ask me why as Premier Customer I did not ask the RM to handle banking matters to which I replied that they are more willing to help customers who bought their various plans. No worries as I dont have ego issues. biggrin.gif

I have the same experience.

Every time when I do my banking transactions in OCBC regular counters, all tellers will
ask me why I don't walk in the premier room, this will put me in an embarrassing moment,
and I really do not like to have this kind of feeling at all..

My concern is that since helping premier customers is part of RMs' jobs, if RM are not willing
to help, this means OCBC and RM are not doing their jobs and they are not professional.

Unless if OCBC stated clearly RMs only help premier customers in investment plans, other banking
transactions will not be entertained.

In fact, out side counters are more helpful in providing update FD info rather than RM.

In overall, I do not see any practical benefits of being a premier customer.
*
I hear you. However I have come to a phase where I only mind how much returns per year is earned then to worry about status. In fact, in any banks i went, i purposeful told all concerned not to bother me with any plans unless they are willing to countersign what has been promised. Again, I wish to reiterate to forumers here not to be bothered with such plans as its practically a waste of moolah. However I am quite on good terms with personnel from a few banks which will come in handy when exchanging new notes for annual festivities.

Not all banks personnel are bad. I have nothing good to say about banks like Hong Leong, Maybank, OCBC, BR, HSBC, CIMB and the likes also. Its all upto individual performance. notworthy.gif

yep, it's about the branch, officer, rm u deal with...

for the branches i deal with, i have few issues with cimb, hlb and uob. pbb is fine but the rates suck.

my experience, i stay far far away from mbb and ambank.

others, never tried...
*
Yup, MBB sucks. I have sent two complaints to Menara Maybank regarding banking issues. One had settled amicably, while the other is recent and still pending. However most of my transactions are via MBB as its my main bank. shakehead.gif
