received a sms from maybank mentioned about new FD promotion of up to 4.1%.. i couldn't found any info on maybank2u site also.. anyone received?

whenever u see the word "up to", it means that is the max, it is a step up, meaning u get max at last mth, much lower in preceding mths.

mbb n other major banks, no kaplar, never high rates.

with pidm, the best deals r always from ocbc, uob n hlb only.

Just visit maybank and ask for more detail,

1~3 months: 3.10%
4~6 months: 3.30%
7~9 months: 3.50%
10~12 months : 4.10%

Effective rate : 3.5%

One advantage of MBB FD promos are that they are usually applicable for companies too and minimum RM20K.

You can call OCBC branch in your area.

But usually we call OCBC help line (personal banking) on www.ocbc.com.my
I do not think they (help line) open today.

OCBC 3.7% p.a. for 12 months is a pure FD, it does not link to CASA, but it needs fresh fund.
You can call to OCBC help line to double confirm.

Ocbc bonus saver is a continuation of current promotion which is supposed to end on 30 June. It is being carried forward with same terms and conditions.

Current 3.7% straight FD for 12 months will end on 30 Jun. it will be replaced by 3.7% FD for 13 months, joined account. Max allowed is RM500k.

Are you referring to the 3.7% FD for joined account? Not sure, bank changed it to 13 months instead of 12 months and if not mistaken the 13 months promo starts in July which may mean the cap is not reached..

4.5% with CASA, so effective rate is lower than 4%, but close enough.

Current promo is 4.5 but due to the need to place in the Smart Saver, effective is 3.96% provided you bank in 1000 each in month 2 and month 3 and withdraw only on 1st day of month 4..

Not sure if the policy is the same for OCBC, do I need to bring along the other person if I want to open a joint account together? Thank you.

Last time a member here calculated the effective rate for Public Bank 6.88% FD promo was less than 3.5% (I forgot the exact effective rate).

If you are looking for a better return rate, you have other options, but most of these 1 year FD promos are ending soon:

(1) OCBC 3.7% (gsc said the tenure is 13 months now instead of 12 months)
(2) UOB 3.68%
(3) Kuwait Finance House 3.88%
(4) Mach 3.6%

Do you think now is a good timing to invest in properties? sweat.gif

Yes, you have to bring along with the person who opens a joint account with you.
