let me jump start a bit to have the ball rolling..
Game: Final Fantasy 7 OST Title: Aerith Theme
Comments: For those who know this song, there is no need for anyone to explain further. Perfect matching, to the death scene of Aerith inside the Forgotten temple. Remember playing this back in 1997. Sephiroth spoiler Aerith and left us a boss to fight with. I threw all my best summon/bahamut and ultima spell at that boss, with this song playing, and while Aerith was slowly dying. Most memorable scene in my RPG experience.

Great recommendations guys! I have never played Mass Effect series before, but the OST are starting to attract me
I am very old school guy. But this ost is a must!
Game: Metal Gear Solid (PS1) OST Title: Encounter
Comments: Infiltration failure. Enemy detected. Send in security! I believe this is the background music what we will all hear when we are sneaking into the military Fotress n MGR 1, PS1. Very good tempo, good beat, makes you want to run faster and escape enemies detection. Hide in air ducts. under the truck, or even inside a.. carton box Special tactical Environment Camouflage device LOL.
SNAKEEEEEEEEEE!

Comments: I was all teary eyed when this played at the end of the credits. I felt sorry for Isaac. After going through 3 brutal events like that, now he might finally be able to find peace......

Xasper try rechecking the codes, and make sure its without the "=" on the embed codes bro Even without playing the game anymore, these songs are bringing back some memories
Game: Final Fantasy XIII OST Title: Serah's Theme
Comments: Beautifully done. This is one of the song in FF13 that left a deep impression to most fans. Although there are many version including Grand Pulse version which was more upbeat, the gentle young female voice in this ost brings out the gentle, peaceful and harmony links they have in the game. And often played in the scene with good story moments or when they are making a big decision together.

Game: Mass Effect 3 OST Title: Leaving Earth
Comments: Hearing this score in the demo made me want to buy ME3
I have never played ME series before, but from the song I got this flying inside my head. I felt its like the invasion was already at its final stage. There is no way to retaliate back. A soldier was on his knees in the dusted and destroyed city when he looks up, seeing the fleets of alien invaders slowly purging through the dark thick clouded atmosphere that now covers Earth from the warm sunlight that used to lights up the city. Staring at his military rifle just 2 feets away from him, he said to himself, "Crist, is there a point to keep fighting?" The command post is gone, and this is just the first phase of the invasion. Not giving up, the soldier used his last strength to craw towards his rifle... he craw against the dead bodies of his fallen comrades, his commander, and bodies of a parent and their children under the shattered debris... The invasion pushed on, and humanity was at its brink of extinction.
Play this ost on a good bass home theater = win

I think if I go on I'll post the entire FF7 and FFT soundtrack in here. So i'll stop.
Did you just said Final Fantasy tactics? That was one of the game with the midi kind of ost that really good, no best!! there is one song, dam i dont know the title, it sounds like full of plot and conspiracy while very fast tempo. It was playing in the raining day outside the castle, while two individual was battling our their reason or what they were defending in.
________________________________________________________________ Nvm. Searched high and low for this. Finally found it!
Game: Final Fantasy Tactics OST Title: Antipyretic ~ Battle Theme #12
Comments: A song of friendship, lost and reunion but mixed with betrayal and sacrifice that needs to be made, if they wish to uphold their believes in the war. PS1 classic.
This post has been edited by Poodlepaddly: Dec 2 2016, 07:34 PM
Because Antipyretic is mainly played during battle INSIDE castles, against key persons like the Zodiac Demons
Haha I see. Good memory. Cant remember that clearly, but i remembered there was a few battle against Delita with Antipyretic theme played. Either way, listening to all these OST brings back lots of memories
Game: Xenogears OST Title: The Treasure Which Cannot Be Stolen
Comments: The Treasure Which Cannot Be Stolen from Xenogears was like an oasis inside the complex story that was going on in Xenogears. Night of Fire from Xenogears are good too. I always know it cant go wrong with Yasunori Mitsuda as the composer. This is a guy who (from what i heard) was almost ward into ICU trying to compose all the OST for Xenogears. Never regretted buying his OST. Hmm, I kinda realize most of great game OST I remembered are coming from PS1.

Game: The Legend of the Dragoon OST Title: The Legend of Dragoon OST - Royal Castle
LoD has always been my favourite game of all time and its OST is as well, always right up there when I talk about VG OSTs. The Royal Castle theme was quite sentimental to me as I would run around in Bale and the Royal Castle, talking to everyone and doing it again and again and again just because I loved how soothing it sounded. It's awesome.

One must not forget the Opening for one of the greatest JRPG ever made, Chrono Trigger:
Comments: One of the most recognisable theme song by Yasunori Mitsuda for one of the most awesome JRPGs
I wasn't aware that Yasunori Mitsuda was also the composer for Chrono Trigger. Thanks for sharing mate. Speaking of Chrono Triggers..
Game: Chrono Cross! OST Title: Time's Scar
Comments: Among the titles inside the CD, Time's Scar was one of the memorable one because of the amount of instruments involved in the making. Some ICE (In Car Entertainment) players are very sensitive on instruments type used and location of the instruments played during recording ) It was a combination of slow and fast pace tempo while bringing up the mysterious and dangerous background in the Chrono Cross Story.

Game: Burnout Paradise OST Title: Paradise City - Guns N Roses
Game: The Legend of the Dragoon OST Title: The Legend of the Dragoon OST - Dart's Theme
This was really the first track in any JRPG that got me so pumped up, so excited and was a "so effin' awesooomeee!!" moment for me in any given moment of a game. The way the track rushes my blood to kick ass, I purposely failed this part of the game just to listen to it again countless times.
Game: Kingdom Hearts OST Title: Dearly Beloved Comments: Anyone favorite? Nice game nice OST. Favorite tunes in KH, the YouTube video have all the version, nice to listen. The 'Heart of KH' song.
Cool song bro. Can really feel like something beautiful is springing out from that abstract world of KH. Played it on the living room and can feel the tranquility atmosphere. I never played KH before because i dont own a PSP, but there was always a song from KH that captured my attention, which i included into my must-have-mp3 list
Game: Kingdom Hearts OST Title: Birth By Sleep O.S.T. Track 03 - Hikari Planit B Remix
Comments: Dont give up (when i was watching the trailers)
game: Xenosaga III OST Tittle: Hepatica/blue flower
When KOS-MOS merged with umm..Mary..
I downloaded the whole song list (all 79 songs) but i didnt know this song (with vocal) exist. very nice mate, thanks for highlighting. Mine is without the vocal ver of Hepatica. This song can leave playing in the living room for hours and you wont get bored

"THE OPENED WAY" from SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS
Never a dull moment. The OST "A Despair Filled Farewell" was the most intense for me.
Game: Shadow of the Colossus OST Tittle; A Despair Filled Farewell
Comments: Best colossus fight in the entire game because of this music (for some xD) Imaging this song playing while you are at the back of Avion's wing and it flips its wings! I was holding on to my life.
Comments: let me start with PS1 IMO, PS1 with nice OST no1# suikoden 2, no2# chrono cross, no3# final fantasy 9 this vid is just a tease for you who never played this game, with only its opening
Have to say I had preferred this game (and music) over Chrono Trigger. Seems like we share same tastes.
Great minds think alike?
Game: Xenogears OST Title: Small Two of Piece
Comments: After going through the great 2 disc game journey of Xenogears, the puzzle, the maze, the boss fight, the game over (dafaq?) the great story and understanding the background and links behind each characters in the game, I reached the ending point and this song was played. All the songs from Xenogears, are indeed therapeutic music to my ears.

Comments: One of the most energetic moments in Xenogears. Maria runs towards her Gear to save Fei and Shevat from her father. Till today, this 2009 dated song stil has not lose its momentum. One of the best theme from Xenogears.
Finally a thread that u opened with no one before Congrats!
I'm not a particular gaming soundtrack fan but if u play a tune I'd probably could recognize it if I heard before
Anyway, I love good music especially when they have nice edition soundtracks. Eg Bayonetta, FFXIII & FFXIII-2. Tempted to get FF series soundtrack but all look so normal
Aerith Theme make me feel a bit nostalgic..ahh those good times..
Here a theme that sends chills down my spine every time,
Game: Final Fantasy 7 OST Title: Those Chosen By The Planet Comments: One word, one guy, one man army..SEPHIROTH..
He is the bad boss in this game, but.. i kinda support him. The rage the fury the anger he has on the FF world and his wicked sick song every time he comes out. One wing angel and this Those Chosen by the Planet, is freaking evil-ly good! When i drive long distance and played these song out loud, I feel i could laugh out evilly >: D

Yeah the "Ohhh this topic has been posted before!" bla bla. Did some analysis and found out, man how can ppl missed out the important game ost which is the cherry on the cake? Fly me to the moon Bayonetta is good. I prefer the Evangelion version but since it's not a PS3 game. Good recco mate.
Game: Borderlands OST Title: Ain't No Rest for The Wicked.
Comments: The best opening for borderlands IMHO! Perfect matching to the Pandora world and the twisted BADASS we all see in the game. There ain't no rest for the wicked, babe! Lyrics
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
I was walking down the street When out the corner of my eye, I saw a pretty little thing approaching me. She said I never seen a man, Who looks so all alone, Oh, could you use a little company? If you could pay the right price, Your evening will be nice, And you can go and send me on my way, I said you're such a sweet young thing, Oh why you do this to yourself. She looked at me and this is what she said.
Oh, there ain't no rest for the wicked, Money don't grow on trees, I got bills to pay, I got mouths to feed, There ain't nothing in this world for free. Oh no I can't slow down, I can't hold back Though you know, I wish, I could, Oh no there ain't no rest for the wicked, Until we close our eyes for good.
Not even 15 minutes later, After walking down the street, When I saw the shadow of a man creep out of sight, And then he swept up from behind, He put a gun up to my head, He made it clear he wasn't looking for a fight, He said give me all you've got, I want your money not your life, If you try to make a move I won't think twice, I told him you can have my cash, But first you know I've got to ask, What made you want to live this kind of life?
He said there ain't no rest for the wicked, Money don't grow on trees, I got bills to pay I got mouths to feed There ain't nothing in this world for free. Oh no I can't slow down, I can't hold back Though you know I wish I could Oh no there ain't no rest for the wicked, Until we close our eyes for good.
Well now a couple hours passed, And I was sitting in my house, The day was winding down and coming to an end, And so I turn to the TV, And flipped it over to the news, And what I saw I almost couldn't comprehend, I saw a preacher man in cuffs He'd taken money from the church, He'd stuffed his bank account with righteous dollar bills But even still I can't say much Because I know we're all the same, Oh yes we all seek out to satisfy those thrills.
You know there ain't no rest for the wicked, Money don't grow on trees, We got bills to pay We got mouths to feed There ain't nothing in this world for free. Oh no we can't slow down, We can't hold back Though you know we wish we could. Oh no there ain't no rest for the wicked, Until we close our eyes for good.

Game: Deus ex: the conspiracy OST Title:Paris Death theme
Well there is soooo many old music i still heard until today, because of this on playstation, i would say DEUS EX: THE CONSPIRACY,
this is actually a PC game, but release on PS2 back in the day, for me this game has the most memorable sountrack. I mean literally THE BEST if not
second best after baldurs gate 2 (pc game).
One of the good soundtrack (i hope i got this right cause i'm at work got no sound ), i got tons of soundtrack from this game but i choose the shortest and most memorable one.
death never sound this good.

Comments: Sad song. KOS-MOS !!!!! This song end the trilogy, played for so long finally reach the end. Quite meaningful.
Beautiful.. Just came back from work and randomly opened a song here. This is pure relaxing. Maybe because I am used to the version without the vocal. It feels like Kos Mos is ending the whole Xenosaga story. 6.15 is nice..

Damn u beat me to it. I love this song as well. they have a soundtrack but no CE version sadly.
The sequel - Borderlands 2 - top it off further with Short Change Hero, which also ranks up there as one of my all time top songs plus great cinematic. Cant wait for No. 3 to come out.

Haha our route to market, no i mean route to gaming is almost the same. It wouldnt be odd to encounter some really good titles like No Rest for the Wicked or Short Changed Hero which has such strong characteristic, and we both have been in Pandora long enough to calloutself the BADASS The borderlands 1 "No Heaven" is nice too bro. Works perfectly with an good audio setup.

Game: FF8 Title: Final Fantasy VIII - My Mind Comment: soothing and romantic.
i want a ff8 remake for ps3.. plsssssssss
i want that girl in you avatar please desu :3 __________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Game: Final Fantasy X (PS2) OST Title: Suki Da Ne (isn't it beautiful)
Comments: Tidus: "Listen to my story". Because of this one sentence, it took us 48 or more hours slashing, killing, chased by shin, mount climbing, leveling, getting lost in maze, fought 10 toxic and poisonous Malboro, struck by lightning, kill by tonberry etc. Next time, just give us an executive summary please, Tidus Then when we reaches the lake where Yuna was breaking down, Tidus approached her and this song was played. Overall, a game title that lives up to the Final Fantasy name. Great story, supported by such great ost, and manage to bring lots of fans back to the Final Fantasy tracks once again. The other OSR "To Zanarkand" was beautifully composed as well.
Comments: The best OST in Tekken 6 BR IMHO Back in the old days where we used to head to the arcade for tekken matches. This stage brings out the stylish and competitive match btw 2 players. Beautiful electric fountain scene synchronized with the music, while 2 players battles out in skill and tactics. You will feel pumped up fighting in this stage with this ost.

it was too cheesy for me, eventhough I admit it is a great song
Haha in that case I roughly know the types of music genre you prefer already : )
Game: Final Fantasy VIII OST Title: Breezy
Comments: Seaside in the sunset, calm shores, 2 elderly sitting on the chair, and few pedestrian kids skatting on the road. *Squall and Rinoa runs by. "Roses and Wine" is a good ost too from the series.

I have listen to all 3 RDR songs, I have to say, the last one Deadman's gun is really good. I have never played RDR before but this feels like a song played at the ending when the hero dies? beats me, it sure feels that way.

Comments: Child of Eden did not receive as many attention in the PS industry. Maybe because its PS MOVE, maybe because it is a music based game, maybe it is just that bad? Whichever the reason, if you can lower down the expectations and give this title a 8 minutes trial, you might actually discover something unusual at the end of the song. No guarantees.. But patience always has it's rewards.
Tips: Max that speaker

Last song in Dead Space series. Cheers Isaac. You will forever be forgotten..
Comment: IMO, this is the most awesom-est, if not, one of the most awesome RPG i have ever played. Played this 8 years + ago, played again 1 month ago with Suikoden 1 to get a better ending. Love the storyline and the ost

Game: Lollipop Chainsaw OST title: Lollipop Chainsaw: Official Soundtrack - THE HUMAN LEAGUE - EMPIRE STATE HUMAN
Comments: One of the most addictive song in Lollipop Chainsaw IMHO. This is totally 1980, nut job, crappy, midi driven, and "makes you feels like you are playing a MICRO GENIUS console". That's why it is so good For those who played the game, this song will first appear in the mini game in stage 4. First time in my life I got my ass kicked by a mini game. Beware of the cows man. The cows. Yet it was still enjoyable, because you get to have this song playing.
Note: Listening it here is different compare to listening it in the game. Its because of the mini game adrenaline rush
Game: Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker Title: Heavens Divide
IMO, this is the most important theme that the MGS series has ever had. It also the the most significant as the lyrics secretly ties into Big Boss's feelings, his story and his thoughts. It is only made better by the fact that it is sang down to perfection by Donna Burke. Simply amazing.

No, the girl is Paz. Big Boss is not a she, Big Boss is Naked Snake. "Father" to the other Snakes (Solid, Liquid and Solidus).
Yeah, it's about Big Boss's heavy burden... the hardships he went through and no one understands his intentions.

No, that's is The Boss. Big Boss is Naked Snake.
2 different person.
And that girl in the Peace Walker poster is Paz, a young little girl that strives for "peace". You should get MGS HD Collection and play Peace Walker, such a waste it wasn't developed as a PS3 title.

Ahh I see. That was The Boss.. So Big Boss was fighting the Boss who was the last boss in the MGR SE. Too many boss in my memory. I am not going to ask about big mama..
I stopped at MGS 4. But after listening to the Heavens Divine on MGR Peace Walker, I think I am going to go repair my Phat YLOD PS3 just to play this title :3 Thanks for the sharing mate. It was very fruitful. I mistaken Paz as The Boss when she was young. (imagine the irony if this was true. Classic!) I loved it how they potrait Paz as the symbol for peace in MGRPW. Comments: Most of players wouldnt hear this song before. Unless you uses a R1 account and joined the US PS3 server. Me and my friend were in this for a certain period of time. great fun, great teamwork, lots of trashtalk with the US villains (lol) and better than WOW IMHO! Had to bring out an old classic from PS1 era. But this theme for jet Motto is the bomb when we first started playing PS1. The tracks in the game are great and dangerous because of its songs. at the end of the artic journey. Someone randomly joined in my gameplay and we were there. We climb up the cold snowy mountain. step by step we climb. i remember climbing that mountain for 5 mins, but it felt forever. It wasnt long till i realize, the other guy foot step was getting softer. so was mine.. We continue to climb.. Despite the cold bone chilling weather and the fact there was no dialog in the game, we keep pressing up thought the blizzard until at one point, i saw him collapsed behind my camera angel. Before i could turn back to check on him, i saw my own avatar bend his knee to the ice snow that now covers almost the whole screen. i collapsed too. Then the screen turned white, I thought we were dead..
At the white screen, the elders game us some words, and thats when this song was played. We went through a violent portal and we saw... a pure white blue skies at the mountain top. Still unable to communicate with the other guy/girl who joined, but i know he/she feels the breathtaking view as we immediately rush for the waterfall. I followed him/her through the clouds and waterfall swimming along the mass leviathan towards the ending point. From that point to the end of the mountain, i had the best 5 minutes of my playstation 3 gaming experience in the past 5 years. it was truly beautiful. Also, the last game i played on my phat PS3 before she died of ylod. Thank you journey and PS3 for the wonderful journey.

comments: pity this is the game at the end of ps2 life. getting less known since ps3 is all the hu ha already at that time. i didnt expect much from it at the beginning too. turned out surprisingly a good rpg game with nice upbeat ost. you'll be addicted to go into fight just to hear the music too. this (in this vid) is one of them. what getting more cool and excited is when you unleash full power combo on the boss with this music

Game: Mass Effect 3 OST title: Two Steps from Hell - Strenght of a thousand men
Comments: Finale epic battle scene where shephard and the landing team rush for the Citadal, battling reapers along the way while soldiers were faling left and right.. Intense match with Garrus pushing through the barriers.
Comments: Sad song. KOS-MOS !!!!! This song end the trilogy, played for so long finally reach the end. Quite meaningful.
I had to say this song has been accompanying me during long hours journey. And it is therapeuthic to even my passenger's ears. Would recommend to anyone who desire a relaxing and calm song after a long day at work. Give it a try

Good to have that. Yes this song is relaxing. From beginning you feel the fight. Then reach the climax then the end is calm and relaxing. Best.
Comments: Metal carnage. Awesome song played during aerial coop. Hype part: 0.54 when reaching higher altitude with enemy fighter and this song played.

I need hd remake for this game. gave up fight against Tiamat last time
I didnt manage to complete FF12 so never heard the ending before. The ending song was quite good. But kinda missing some elememts of FF series, no? Wonder if there is a Japanese version like Suteki Dane.
All these classic ost from FF X and VII is making me nostalgic..
The lonely final ending journey to zarnakand, walking among the ruins of Zarnakand with Yuna, Aoron, Rikku and the rest and that song played, or a slowly zoom in screen from the sky towards the midgard train where cloud first appear. Damn.. xD
FF OST always deliver that emotional scene which captures the heart of many gamers.

if there is a bomb that is going to drop onto the world and wipe out everything, this may just be the right song for the final ending, in memorial for all humans that ever lived..
The explosion wave that slowly disintegrate everything in its path...
A mother holding her child as both of them saw the wave of lights slowly approach towards them in distance....
A distance siblings holding on to each another, praying and as they know the people they loved, are now directly within the first proximity of the blast...
The military soldier who knee to the ground, knowing he has failed to protect everything he has fought for and it is too late...
The destruction wave that did not stop at each consecutive path, destroying every trace of memories of everything that use to exist..
In the last few moment, if only we have..

Just stumble this one and this really take me back when i was 15 and playing FF on my PS2 really make me jerk tears
This is another OST that i really enjoy while playing FFXIV- In term of story if you dig enough is much much better than FF13 and FF15.

"Answers" has been described officially as a conversation between mortals and Hydaelyn. The general idea of the song is that it is hard for men to understand why they have to go through hardships in life even though they are protected by this almighty deity. In turn, the deity responds that much of those hardships are self-inflicted and that sometimes you just have to experience pain in order to grow. Nearing the end, the theme of "knowing" becomes more accentuated as Hydaelyn displays a very deep understanding of what mortals don't yet know but wishes they find out. "Dragonsong" was said to be almost a sequel to Answers, which is a further example of the hardships that mortals suffer through being caused by their own negative thoughts and deeds, using the specific example of the love between Shiva and Hraesvelgr. At the end of the song, the knowing aspect comes back into play, as Hydaelyn laments never knowing, herself, why mortals willingly give up their gift of life and nature. I don't really think Answers was written to reflect on the story of 2.x and 3.x but rather that it was written based on an idea of who Hydaelyn is and how she operates and perceives things and people. The themes around her, as well as the Worlds, both explored in 2.x and 3.x, were written around that idea as well. So I'd say it's a coincidence.
Jigoku haha so late night post, bro? Yes the ffx music was emotionally fitting perfectly to the scenes. And another spot on for ffxiv. Opening theme, primal boss fight post, heavensward post, being an ex player for ffxiv, the music remids me of all the good and exciting time with the people we played with. There's one when you ride the Dragon in the sea of clouds. After all the hard long work to unlock flying mount and the first flight in the sun set.... u could almost picture back the moment by listening to the music

Haha you can tell much about a man or women by how they appreciate their music.
I remember playing Life is strange and I was hooked by its main menu ost.
Dragon Age - grey Warden I guess I will have to play the game to be able to appreciate the moment where this ost was played, but I can see where it is coming from.
Final Fantasy XIV, I don't even know where to start. Perfect song. Just perfect....
Glad to meet someone who can appreciate game ost music as much as we do : )

Just recently replay Dragon Age Inquistion and cant believe i forget this part
I love it because everyone join in heck even i was singing with them
Nice theme. I have to say certain song if you play the game long enough and enter that scene, we will appreciate it more. Its a bit hard to get into the mood without knowing the game, but if you do, you know the song fits perfectly in that scene at that moment with those people.
I will try to imagine what have those people been through when they reached that scene.

I never played DA before. That's why this ost is a mystery to me I can only imagine what actually happened when this was played in the game. Must be something epic. sacrifice? A path of no return? Dammit what happened inside Dragon Age series? Haha.

Game without ost is super lifeless. I cannot imagine going through the dailies and grind esp in games like FF XIV without any music.
It was also the music that keep the game alive, and better!
Heavensward OP music, common whats not to like? Most Fps lack music at crucial time to kick in the adrenaline. Never know, there might be games we never played before like Batman which has good ost in it. I also belive in listening to unknown ost a few time before judging its not good. After replaying it for quite some time, it starts to get familiar, and then the tune kicks in

My all time fav, it's like riding a roller coaster and soaring in the sky when listening to this
I am a big fan of AC esp Ace Combat assault horizon. I tried listening to this with eyes closed and imagine the aerial dog fight. Damn, that opponent, he is good. xD But I aint giving up yet!! That high speed high altitude chase... I see him gliding through the horizon line...... He is fast.

addicted to the OST after playing the game on PS3 long time ago. still got the whole OST in my phone tho. plays it on the radio while driving my car via bluetooth.
Wonder if this shows my age, I rarely listen to the in-game audio because I would rather listen to podcasts and stuff like that. So my interest in game music comes from much earlier instead of the newer orchestrated music.

Ending of boss or some big revelation in the story

Lol, never been a story person. I like it if it's good, but if the gameplay/leveling is boring then I'm not such a big fan of them.
But you play Witcher wor, a lot of people i know say Witcher combat boring and slow
Yeap and after playing it to completion on Death March difficulty I can say with confidence the combat is repetitive. Especially the last boss. I played it cause I heard so many people proclaim it as GotY, etc. So why not, it was interesting until the end of Act I. After that things just repeat over and over again.
Haha. Let's slowly post. Let the people enjoy the previous ost recommendation post first perhaps. As we seldom go back to previous pages
I am surprised with the genre they choose for Borderlands telltale. Its a bit of church choir singing to tell something great that happened in the past. Now im curious what happened with handsomejack.

It took 18 members (3 parties of 6) to take down this boss I was still a kid back then, after a lot of appearance finally able to battle him, it made me really excited and nervous. The song just made everything better ..
omg i was going through this thread and planned to post this one already
Haha bro. the pages here are highly lagging and you went through 10 pages to check if the songs are uploaded? Salute bro. Haha.
But thanks for highlighting. perhaps it will be easier if I make a summary list in the main page, detailing who recommended what song, the detail of the song, the link to the youtube in an organized table. That way ppl will be able to know if the song suikoden or Final Fantasy XX has been listed before. At the same time, ease ppl who wish to see the overall recommendation by the ppl here.
now you mention about eternia (my first tales of!)... i still listen to this very often love destiny and still playing now, trying to 100% everything and master all artes lol
Here is something from me i wish this game come to STEAM so i can replay the whole series of Ar Tonelico

New game ost are good, but since we grew up in the midi file and music era, we have stronger attachments to those older titles. I have some hard time remember what was FF XIII or XIII-2 ost or the background whent he song played. But when you said Zarnakand, you could almost immediately imagine the scene Tidus and Yuna at that point, or Balamb Garden OST, where you can picture square and Rinoa first meet.
Older title seems to have memorable story line. Not sure if new titles focus too much on graphic I think.

for me i think most modern games bgm are too "messy" that's y it's harder to recognize which part it is from the game lol and yup, story might also be a point, game nowadays really lack of good story, and story gameplay is getting shorter and shorter... especially ff titles... glad that tales titles still get around 40 hours story gameplay excluding sidequests

Base game main story itself is getting shorter and shorter because most dev try to milk the game via DLC.
but most main story now a day is short cut half then to know more please purchase DLC 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 for $xxx.00.
or they put too much resources on graphic then they have no more budget to get a good story writing.
Let's take FF15 for example since its one of the latest JRPG.
Chapter 13 is it or 14 time skip and nothing is told about what happen to the sausage buddy but to know more please purchase our DLC.
Dont forget to watch the Anime+The Movie for more stories and dont forget our Ultimate Character Guide book.
From what i read they will be coming up with an expansion to conclude the story aka FF15-2
If its expansion of the story i get it we can pay for that

Haha I agree. Sometime im trying to look back at those old vintage games with outstanding ost like FF tactics, Xenogears etc. I think the ost brings out the life of the adventure. Without them, the encounter and cut scene wouldn't be the same the first time.
Xenogears - Flight FF7 - Aerith theme FFIX - Melodies of life and many others more.
Nowadays new games as we all highlighted above, lack of some "spark". They are still good, but not very memorable. Or probably when we are younger the older genre experience impacted us more? Nevertheless the OST reminds us of that experience. By just putting up the song, few of us friends could easily relate to what we been through. Haha
wow miss xenosaga, i only completed episode 1, couldn't get epi 2 and 3 lol, maybe i should try to find used game miss xenogears too, and too bad xenoblade released on wii so never get to play

Damn I missed Xenogears from PS2 days too. The Maria OST "Flight" was the most lively moment I ever seen in any RPG game to date. The standard encounter battle song was quite good also. The battle drum, the techno peak, the entire length of the OST, really matching to the gigantic robot fights in Xenogear with Fei and Elly.
Xenosaga I didn't play much. Somehow it didn't feel the xenogears in it. But Cosmo was an interesting character and a few god ost there as well.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt OST - Sword of Destiny - Main Theme
I have never played any The Witcher series before. But I find their OST and during battle theme song really brings the game alive. Really fits the lore and the situation they meet in the game.
I have only played the beta but I find the music quite unique and fitting to Nier Automata. It kinda reminds me of Zone of Enders's composer? Not sure as I didn't play both game in depth, but the song atmosphere feels quite alike.
