They should be the consultant for the project. Since you representing them, your job should be to ensure the work done is according to their drawings and specifications.

Be careful on site, fall, accidents etc. Drink more water weather very hot.

A kerbau tilling the earth each day requires a lot of effort and time. But that doesn't mean what the kerbau does is worth a lot of money.

From an economics point of view, definitely. From ur point of view, i think u have been in the finance industry for quite some time?

Well, da way i see it, engineering especially has been stagnant for many years. Wat we do and design is in fact nothing much different from the past 20-30 years. Eventually everyone picks up the knowledge. If u apply supply and demand theory, when supply increases more than demand, u r more or less screwed. Whereas finance has actually evolved quite a nit in the past few years with new alternative investments, new economic theories, its always changing from the way i see it.

this is pretty true. inspector job is never easy. must know all those design specifications. anything less than your due diligence would probably end up with a lawsuit/fine/jail term.

yeah,it said it in scope of work, said im need to attend meeting with authorities in morning, will be assign in team which area i should go,find any defects on pavement/walkway,snap a picture, then if finish after lunch, either i go home or office to write a report to submit.i think their office not so big, thats why they allow to go home after finish inspection, they appointed 30 new workers for this job smile.gif

thanks, noted.. hopefully i can used all my construction experience to avoid anything smile.gif

actually the thing is engineering in sg has been focusing a lot on manufacturing rather than other high value processes... electronic is dying, pharmaceuticals is volatile... only rig building, oil refining n downstream are doing well... because of sg's limited size in both economy and ppl i is hard to go up the value chain... like making weapons / nuclear energy / aero space / designing huge stuff, these are where the big $$$ comes in

Point taken.

My point is that what you do and who you do it for, is just as important... if not more so than how much you do it. The greatest driver of reward is not effort, but results... results for someone who appreciates it.

In Ipoh for instance, the highest paying mainstream jobs are engineering jobs. The semicon factories in Ipoh have the most employees earning >10K salary (by far, by a country mile). The vast majority of them are E&E engineers.

Good Analysis.
For me, I really lack the sight to forsee the future. I only know that if i continue to follow this path, i will end up slaving away for a meager, simple life, having said that, i mean a basic family, a hdb if in sg, an average double storey in the suburbs in kl and a regular car, without any extra cash to spare.
What i can do now is to equip myself with the necessary tools to face the future. Finance might be my future career path if not too late, if not, the extra knowledge will also aid me in my investments. so theres really no harm in taking up a finance masters i guess, anyway, i dun think i have any to lose other than effort and tuition fees.

The normal one or foldable one? last time i buy from sea horse for the foldable bed, cost me 39.90. for me, i will consider foldable bed as i worry if i moved, it will be very troublesome, but if you want normal bed, can consider ikea, spend abit more use longer. blush.gif

I also have a few of those Seahorse mattress (~$30 each), bought them for family members who came to visit us.
I got feedback that its too hard to sleep comfortably.

You can try to find mattress sellers in your neighbourhood plazas and markets, shophouses.

Alternatively if you can also google for online furniture seller. I once bought a wardrobe online, about $150 inclusive of delivery. (not Courts or Ikea..)

I bought a couple of those inflatable matteresses used for camping etc from Fairprice. About $30 or 40, iirc. Queen size, comes with a pump. Quite confortable (as long as you don't mind the sensation), and easy to store when not using.

it's totally up to you how you manage it.

Normal ba, old ppl always compare their pay last time with your pay now. 1.6k last time alot already, maybe local degree pay. But they always forgot inflation lo, now 1.6k how to survive. Btw, 1.6k for what job if you don't mind to tell tongue.gif
