Anyone else (PRs) receive a letter from the National Population and Talent Division (NPTD) asking you to complete a survey?

The last couple of questions were ominous...

- Will you consider applying for Singapore Citizenship? (Y/N)
- Which factors will you take into consideration? (tick all that apply)

I wonder what will happen if you tick no? And what happens if you tick yes and they send you a citizenship application which they expect you to submit?

Anyway... perhaps not worth revealing my hand just for the NTUC vouchers.

My passport is going to expire next year July and currently I want to renew my E-Pass and also apply for PR.

Do I need to renew my passport first before I do the above?

HR told me that my new E-pass may have a validity of 1 year if I renew it without renewing my passport.

Those of u working in Singapore. Are you guys rich yet? Do you feel rich?
*
What make you feel RICH?

Some of us here say two overseas holiday per year, a few investment properties, portfolio value, higher purchasing power make those who work in SG look rich. A few of them stay in their own condos and flat but most of them rent a room and take public transport. Most couple have fewer kids. Mostly eat chap fan alone and sleep on the cheaper bedding.

Some friends in MY may not have that much of investment or purchasing power but they stay in nice house with more than one car and more kids. They enjoy cooking in their designer kitchen and holding parties for friends regularly. They sleep better on quality bed and Their social life is richer.

So, which kind of rich man you want to be?

I did not think of being a rich man when I first came to SG, my goal was to send back enough cash for our family house and for sibling tuition fee. I am not rich in Sg but happy with two kids.

Finally your turn, you got property here right? Family with kids?

Ticked no, they still sent the SC invitation, rejected and still here. A friend ticked yes, enjoyed the free shopping but no invitation letter though. The department will invite you to a lot of integration event with them, free buffet, free function, free movie, everything free to mingle with other SC and future SC to convince you SG a better choice.

I have received invitations to apply for citizenship a couple of times before. But that was before. Now you hear all this talk about only wanting the right types of PRs to remain... ie. those that want to make SG their permanent home someday. I haven't heard of ReEntry Permit renewals being rejected but have seen a few shortened below the usual 5 years (subject to passport expiry).

So right now, perhaps the best approach is lie low, ignore the survey and just stay under the radar.

I also got the survey thing and I am only an EP holder. The letter says if you finish the survey they sent you a limited edition EasyLink card FOC. Until now I wait also haven't seen it after finishing the survey online. sad.gif

Maybe because I answer no if you intend to take up PR, etc.... smile.gif

Can't lie low and ignore since you posted online already hehe.

My sis got her REP renewal rejected, mainly because she lives in MY and only come here to shop. One year grace period, then reapply and got her 5 years REP back. Other than that never hear people got rejected if they work in SG consistently.

Same here; I (EP holder) have been asked to do 2 surveys this year. Me too, EZLink card still not in sight. I think we will get it......do not think they will 'risk' upsetting potential PRs or citizens! biggrin.gif and it was stated in an official letter from a governmental unit.

The right question is whether you feel richer working in Singapore or Malaysia?

Or even whether you feel richer in Malaysia when working in Singapore?

All I know is that I needed to take a 30 year loan to pay for a semi-d house in PJ when I was working in KL, assuming I don't get retrenched or sick during those 30 years. Factoring in salary increases, bonuses etc, I could probably pay off the loan in 20 years. And for the first 10+ years, it was going to be tight!

After working in Singapore for 8 years, buying that same house in PJ is now no longer an issue. Heck, can even buy the house next door and make it a bungalow.
*
I guess what I meant is not cross border purchasing power but earning and spending in the same country.
