I convert my license after almost 9 years in Sg with student pass and PR. I was told the criterial is my malaysia driving license must be issued at least one years before I came to Sg for long term purpose. In my case is my student pass start date or my passport entry date which ever earlier.

The officer question me why I apply for convention after so many years, I explain I was out of Singapore for a few years during that period and I just save enough to buy a used car. He gamm gamm gamm but process my application anyway.

This one.

THANKS!!! A precedent. I'm 7 years overdue already....

Btw, the JPJ transcript will state when we were first issued our licence in Malaysia, wouldn't it? I renewed my current licence very near the date I came to Singapore permanently, so the start date on the current licence itself will be less than one year.
*
Yes, in fact the Pass date is one of the important info they are looking for on the JPJ statement. In my case was during my form 5 year. I had renew my MY license a few time before the convention too.

This is to prevent people from taking easier and cheaper Driving test in other country after they set foot in SG then convert to SG driving license.

I don't think I can re-apply for my current jobs if I don't have a PhD with relevant experience. Too many PhD looking for jobs out there.

I am trying to say a degree is really nothing much in SG. You need to highlight what so special about your x years of experience. Working in a high tech company does not means you are the key person that hold valuable technical expertise.

true story bro

7 of my colleagues are PhD (one of them senior lecturer)  doh.gif

So 6 out of 7 PhD are just normal lecturer, the lowest academic role. Wonder what can a degree holder apply? You in education line?

If it is NUS, you need good post doc to start with.

Are you PhD holder and trying to looking for a job in sg? If yes, my best advise to you: "Better Don't" coz of ur nationality... Usually, all the lecturers vacancies in University will go to foreigner (Caucasian/ someone really hold a very good PhD from reputable university)!... Bear in mind, they still want to maintain their best university world ranking!... As I told you, sg really hv a tonnes of diploma from poly, ok?
1. " You need to highlight what so special about your x years of experience."- I did highlight all of my special during the interview. For HR, they just thinking of ur expected salary is suit their offer salary range? If u r exceed their limit, it mean they hv less chance to get the job! (HR will always think of the currency conversion when they tends to offer to a foreigner)!....

2. "Working in a high tech company does not means you are the key person that hold valuable technical expertise."- You know how much valuable information and experiences can be contribute to their company? And, that's inter-related and can apply directly to the jobs tasks...
*
Nope, not so practical for me to start my PhD program at least for now as I have jobs and family. There are many position available so local and PR still have chance.

Sg just make some changes, N level can apply poly directly. This is just part of the action to ensure almost all Singaporean will have minimum diploma qualification in near future. They also build new uni to promote more poly grad to get a basic degree. So you are right that there are many diploma holders but there are many of them also hold a degree. So they have one more qualification than you who has just a degree.

If they try to fit you into their salary range then most likely the HR treat your skill like a COST, lower quote that meet minimum requirement win. Big company normally head hunt top talent to be part of their asset. So I guess you have to look for jobs elsewhere where you will be a valuable asset.

Certain industries are not doing well, if you have better offer in Malaysian then stay put.

Just hope PKR can do something about this unfair GE13. a government who go against the people will is not going to last long

Chances are low. How these things can happen tell us a lot about our polis, court, immigration, media etc.

Time will come when the kampong folks learn to access the real info.

Wish Penang, Selangor can keep up the development and strengthen their multi racial party. PAS and Umno just represent a particular group of people . The future is on those party that can represent all Malayasian.

I hope PR can do well and I will move back in 10 years time.

after BN still in power, we will see S$1 = RM3 before the next election. I don't feel extremely proud of it.

i lost my international license because of my singapore bike being stole, is it need to redo again in JPJ malaysia or infiorm singapore police traffic ?
*
You need police report to claim insurance right? Even if you lost your bike in Malaysia, no harm getting a SG police report in English for the paperwork.

where you get the ID is where you need to go for a new card. Sg police can't issue any of your MY ID right?

ps : you need police report from local police where the incident took place. If it is in MY then you can make another police report in SG to inform TP.

Those of u working in Singapore. Are you guys rich yet? Do you feel rich?
*
What make you feel RICH?

Some of us here say two overseas holiday per year, a few investment properties, portfolio value, higher purchasing power make those who work in SG look rich. A few of them stay in their own condos and flat but most of them rent a room and take public transport. Most couple have fewer kids. Mostly eat chap fan alone and sleep on the cheaper bedding.

Some friends in MY may not have that much of investment or purchasing power but they stay in nice house with more than one car and more kids. They enjoy cooking in their designer kitchen and holding parties for friends regularly. They sleep better on quality bed and Their social life is richer.

So, which kind of rich man you want to be?

I did not think of being a rich man when I first came to SG, my goal was to send back enough cash for our family house and for sibling tuition fee. I am not rich in Sg but happy with two kids.
