I have one question regarding singtel business fixed line call cost.

link as below:
http://info.singtel.com/business/products-...-line#-overview

so my question is, an office fixed line called another office fixed line, the charges is 0.86 cent per 30s,
then one minute is SGD 1.72 ? is my calculation correct? fixed line so expensive?

but my friend told me that for fixed line, the call is free, is he talking about home line?
*
1.72 cents not 1.72 SGD leh tongue.gif hp 16-20 cents

You friend may be talking about the mio plan, call to local line free. Don't know got business plan or not.

Ouch, my bad. maybe my understanding very bad, that why confused me. so one minute call only cost <2 cents ?
because i saw hp cost alot more so i didn't think of fixed line can be so so much cheaper, hence confused. tongue.gif
*
You say 0.86 cent per 30s then 1 minute is 1.72 cent lo. Why you apply business line leh?

Thanks for sharing, anyway Accounting sector is become so competitive in SG. I guess in future you may need a PHD as to be outstanding. I think in Malaysia, is still the most important how much you can deliver & contribute then the qualification you achieve.

I heard in SG, Charter Accountant at most you only get SGD4-4.5k (Please correct me if I'm wrong). Malaysia you will get RM5-7k, if compare dollar to dollar which is much lower.

I would said, SG is a best place to earn money, but not a good place to live for long term. But it all depends on individual and what you want.
*
Chartered Accountant earn a lot more than that. Among the top tier for professionals.

SG is a good place to live for the rich. Safety and healthcare.

Mind to share what is the salary range for Chartered Accountant?

If you were rich, there is plenty of place great to live. Eg. India & other 3rd world countries, you be treat like a King, live in mansion with dozens of slaves.  thumbup.gif
*
Seantang already gave the range. I only have one CPA friend, around the manager pay as partner in a local firm.

Maybe guys are different. At least here I don't need to worry about ragut or motorcycle come smashing my window when driving, or the worst - rape. No thanks for India.

Haha, because the way malaysia put the figure wont be <1 cent (for 0.86cent), seldom i see got the zero in front, maybe i too used to it and seldom read all the way, i really thought is 0.86 SGD.haha

anyway, i didnt apply for it, because recently heard some staff say the phone bill cost alot, so just asking to see why it is so much. tongue.gif
*
If call client then no choice one. If use to call back Malaysia home or friends, IT people start to check then you die liao. Most company using IP phone. If your phone got a big screen with Cisco name most likely they are IP phone.

I used to earn RM3000+ in KL but I save only a few hundred only. Need to pay petrol, car, maintenance, parking, rent,etc...
However, in SG i only earn S$2500 but I manage to save at least S$1200(RM3000) which is enough to pay my house loan, insurance, even savings, etc in Malaysia!
*
If you want to have the same lifestyle in Malaysia and in SG, say car, petrol, parking, landed house, you need to earn a LOT more than Malaysia before converting.

I try to write what I feel about working in SG so far not much work today hehe. Please give your input especially your MY experience all are welcome.

I started my working life in SG. Never work in MY so I don't know about the pay scale, culture, organization and cost of living there. Seeing many Malaysians coming to SG to work, I guess SG is better.

Input from my MY colleagues who worked in MY before, things like electronics, food, clothes, travelling are generally "cheaper". Cheaper in the sense of the cost % over income. Partially due to the stronger currency exchange for SGD. I assume this is the main attraction for graduates to come here as those are the things they are chasing at that age?

After some time we move to another kind of needs. Housing, transportations and setting up a family. Everything change from there. Not so cheap after all. For dual income, maintaining a car is affordable. We plan to get another car recently because our working hours varies, either me or my BF has alternate OT. After calculation and the new budget we gave up the thought. Our place is 30 mins walking distance up hill from the nearest bus stop. Try going up hill with heels before saying 30mins is ok... If one of us OT, the other one have to force to stay back too because we share one car. The cab queue around my workplace is even worse than the MRT queue. Petrol is cheaper though - about 2.2 for 98UL per litre and MY Ron 97 is 2.9 per litre.

We can't buy HDB because we both have properties here and oversea. My parents hate me so they put my name in the house before they went back. Next choice is condo, dual income, pay until retired. Waiting for the second wave of cooling measures. Landed... don't even dare to think. So yah well over marriage age but still waiting. And the government is complaining of low fertility rate among residents. Kids will be another level of needs - akan datang lol.

work in malaysia 5 years then sg 4 years then 5 years again in malaysia and now back in SG 2 years plus  hmm.gif
i see also alot people go back permanently no problem adapting with Ringgit
depend on opportunity, me career been on turbo since i back in SG
planning for more kid, house and already enjoying driving here in SG  rclxm9.gif

a lot of plan have been acomplish with the strong currency  thumbup.gif

different age different need, i like the freedom kl have when i younger (young and dangerous)
i like the security and freedom for my son now in SG (they run and roam around in the park with no fear)
*
QUOTE(Dark NT @ Apr 9 2013, 02:23 PM)
Mee too. In fact this is the biggest reason I move to SG.

I worked in MY for 12 years and moved to SG 1.5 years ago.
I suffered a big drop in my standard of living. Used to have 2 cars (fully paid) and 2 apt units (fully paid) in MY.
Can only afford a used car (on loan) and rent a HDB in SG.
But the fact that my kids can roam freely in the park is priceless and worth the sacrifice.

Of course we never let our guard down. We still practice the same level of alertness wherever we go!
*
Its more like a family house equal share between bro, sis and me. I am only a temporary caretaker. They treating it like a hotel, come and go with all their things still inside the rooms vmad.gif So we need another place to start our family.

Lol can imagine after having kids, every interest is for the the kids already. Last year quite a number of rumours that people taking the young kids away in the public. Have to be careful also.

You all employ nanny or put at day care center? My nephew came last month thanks to the Suluk invasion, the temporary nanny we got is expensive, 2.5k for baby < 1 year old. They are coming back end of year for few months to renew their REP so I am looking out for nanny for nephew.

QUOTE(seantang @ Apr 9 2013, 05:48 PM)

Pros working in SG:

- save more money in RM
- more buying power in Malaysia
- better public transport system & environment
- cheaper internet & mobile phone
- People inferior to me do not think they are my Tuan
- safe, low crime
- everything is more, and not totally transparent, low corruption
- my kids can study anywhere they want, be eligible any job they are capable of
- job prospect / promotion are based on competency and not quota/race

Cons working in SG:

- your paid will be much less then $3.4k, probably SGD$2.5-2.8k Forever?
- quite impossible to own a car in SG Have you seen how many cars there are in SG? In terms of % of income, it's actually cheaper now in SG vs then in KL for me
- super high room rental SGD500-1000 (depends location) in Malaysia you could rent a Apartment/House This won't last forever You will be renting out your rooms or unit with that amount later. Yield is higher here.
- working as foreigner in SG (SG ppl always look down on us & discriminate Malaysian)Never truly felt that before. Maybe because I'm in a MNC. Outside work, nobody knows I'm not Singaporean until I start speaking Malay,.. or Mandarin,... or Hokkien
- much competitive working environment & demanding (may work >12 hours a day, no work life balance) Same in MY lah. The SG auditors auditing my company don't work more than I did when I was an auditor in MY From the number of ppl here replying to this thread at working hours you can judge how competitive and demanding our work are lol.

Can renew REP by working for few months only?
*
My bro and sis-in-law are self employed. My sis is also self employed but never stay here for the 5 years period got her REP rejected then given a 1 year REP with some criteria and later a 5 years REP. To be safe they are coming back to stay for sometime before renewing the REP.

Lets wait for the demarcation. We may again see on one hand, 300 000 residents voting for 1 single MP and on the other, 1000 to 1.

The wonders of EC magic.
*
Just vote la. If demarcation 300000 to 1, 1000 to 1 you don't vote isit. Complain complain like SG locals already. EC magic let the parties go settle. We voters just do our voting job enough.

fionachin daycare for <18mth infant is $1.2k average, PCF & NTUC. >18mth toddler is half of that. Putting in daycare = more money to go clinics but extra time for u n partner. And good for the kid to be socially active.
*
The baby not mine la, uncle shakehead.gif More money to go clinics? If put at day care center scare they mistreat the baby, so small still don't know how to complain yet. Morning still ok, my SIL full time at home most of the time. But my nephew still wake up at wee hours for milk, make the whole family wake up together, so we find him a nanny for the middle of the night milk session and pang sai session.

QUOTE(JohnJon82 @ Apr 11 2013, 10:49 PM)
Only SG citizen can own landed properties in the main island. Foreigners including PR can only buy Sentosa Cove. PR can buy strata landed properties in the main island but not so exclusive like Malaysia's one, something like cluster housing or landed housing inside a condo compound.
*
PR can buy landed but need to apply to the land office. Comes with a bunch of criteria. Only for family members, can't rent out forever and have to sell after giving up PR. Paper rich only. Not a good passive income investment but the price gone up the most compare with other type of properties. Only the GCB reserved for citizen.

Just did a tour around KK area. PKR presence is so weak here compare to BN and one local party. Felt neglected. They only won 1 seat last time. No ceramah, no campaign so far according to dad. Why they not attacking stronghold and fix deposit of BN?

Best option for you is to go through custom during non-peak hours. so that you can observe and get use to how to reach JB city square.what is important is beware the scratch and win. for me, i wont stop for anything until i reach the inside of city square.no harm for taking extra precaution. girl need to be extra careful, is better you find a male companion.

taman setia indah you need to ask other taikor d.
