musclemass
are you sure I can do final year in UK ? 100% sure ?
if 9k pound then it would be around 63k + living expenses ... the total would be around 100K ++

hmm i can afford it .. if that is allowed..

studying here and uk not much difference u get the same cert..no one cares if u study at uk...cause all that matters is ur result and the extra...their marking are strict and there is no play around...
*
Er I dont really agree with your statement. You will able to experience different culture and experiences if you study in UK. I don't think you will have the chance to study in UK if u miss it now. It would be different even if you say you able to afford to go UK for vacation. Of course no one will care whether you graduate from UK or MY, it is the experience that matters. You will able to communicate with foreign students from around the world ! +_+ its a great opportunities. You can also brush up your english because you will be forced to use english everyday ~
Therefore, if you can afford to go UK, I suggest you all to go ahead! because it would be a great experience to be able to study abroad. For those you cant, then you might consider Nottingham Malaysia Campus ^^

Anyway I would like to ask whether Electrical and electronic engineering offered by Nottingham Malaysia campus recognized by BEM and IEM ? I have asked them but their reply did not answer what i asked .

I see some of you say ... not final year but second year which is what i heard . Pretty confusing...

anyway MuscleMass, you say that I have to pay the 2nd year and 3rd year in pound in order to be able to transfer to study in UK for the final year ? 9k pound which means around 63kx2 for 2 years .. hmm ..
Since im paying pound in my 2nd year, then can I transfer to UK in my 2nd year and graduate in Uk too ?

Im considering whether to join for this Sept Intake

Any helps are much appreciated .~ Thanks

Yes you can, BUT you have to transfer in your second year and not in your final year, some of my coursemates did it
*
that means i have to come back to malaysia campus to complete my course ? ... That SUX!

if thats the case ... it would be really disappointing... cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

How are the lectures and tutorials being conducted? in UNiM ?

Despite the large amount of fees, do they provide enough equipments to assist you in your project or labs assignment?

hi there, ...do you think the syllabus in nottingham esspecially for E&E is adequate for you to face the working world next time?
How industries-oriented is the engineering course in UNiM? Hows the career prospects after graduating from UNiM? From what i know, engineering courses in UNiM doesnt includes internship/industrial training. Does it means that the uni does not have good communication with the corporates ?

to correct jasperng, as far as i know, nottingham malaysia's MEng is not recognized by BEM (i'm sure the uni knows about it, because that is what i was told), but i believe the BEng is recognized by BEM.

if you are so sure you want to work in the telecommunication related field next time, just study communications engineering. but like what WillHung said, it doesn't matter whether u do E&E or E&C, just state in your CV next time that you've done telecommunication-related subjects and your interest lies in that subject smile.gif

anyway guys, enuf of the nigger issues...i was wondering, is it possible to do a MSc and be recognised as chartered engineer in Msia after completing my BEng in UNMC? i was planning to get 1 yr of postgraduate MSc in UK
*
Wat does UNMC stands for ? btw I thought MSc require 2 years of study ? anyway according to BEM, you have to atleast study for 2 years in recognized oversea university to be able to register with BEM.

But if you are refering to be charted engineer in Msia, you better based on BEM accreditation. It doesnt mean that if Uk board of engineer recognizes it the BEM will do so although BEM follows UK system. It still depends on how BEM interprets it.

also, if the IEEE from uk recognises engineering courses in UNiM. does it means that Enginering council from uk recognises it too ? XD

This is what UNim replied my email :

BEM recognizes a 4 year degree program. UNiM's BEng is 3 years and MEng
is 4 years. The MEng is recognized but the BEng will only be recognize
if anytime within the 3 year program - a 6 months Industrial Training is
done. It can be done during semester break.

The other option is to gain work experience and then register with
BEM.

Thank you.

I think it is better to confirm with BEM it self instead of UNiM. From what I know, BEM doesnt recognizes MEng. I meant havent recognizes it yet.

Well before I say anything else, I'll intro a bit tongue.gif. I'm a mechanical student at TARC. Finishing my diploma in another 2 semesters.
So I was wondering whether or not I can enter Nottingham at year 2 instead of year 1.
The person in charge of all the incoming mails replied my email 1 month later, with 3 lines of unguided information. Before I asked for a yes or no answer and the requirements.
18 days has passed, and no replies. If you can't even manage your online services properly, how are you going to manage the whole University?!

These are my 2 cents though. I'm not saying Nottingham is a bad university. Because I myself haven't actually entered the university.
Im from TARC too but im electronics engineering. I already completed my diploma. For your query. yes you can enter 2nd year using diploma from TARC. I have received offer letter which allow me to go 2nd year.

And yeah, I know they reply email in an unreasonable period of time. That is why i always call him instead of email them. It is faster this way. +_+ Anyway, every uni has pros and cons. For example, TARC has alot of red tapes that needed to follow to execute something. That is why we always get our result very late. =)

Oh about recognitions. Try not to bother it too much, don't let Malaysian lame recognitions alter your decisions.
If your cert is recognized by BEM, you're entitled to work for the government.
Besides, I doubt any government officers would want a fresh grad to work with them. If this is the case, why not you build your own engineering firm and get your own reputation instead? Let them beg you to work with them, don't beg them to hire you.

Do keep in mind though. Engineering is not as easy as it seems. First year would be a piece of cake. But once you start touching the things you haven't encountered before. You'll have you put extra effort in your studies.
3 years. This means your life as a student will be quite packed, with non stop homework, assignments and everything else. smile.gif

Hope these helps tongue.gif

For your information , Im NEVER NEVER plan to work with government. The only purpose i wan to get recognize by BEM and register with them is so that I can apply to be charted engineer after 4 years of working experience.

er year 2 subjects is much tougher than first year.. Minimum requirement for UNiM is 3.2 ... Hopefully you can maintain your cgpa above the requirement. Study hard~
