Excuse me guys, I am currently interested to enroll myself in the second intake for Computer Science in University of Nottingham, some research tells me the new fresh intake is on April 7th. Do correct me if I am mistaken.
Before that, I would like to ask my would be seniors about a few stuffs regarding the University itself. Do you guys prefer to live in the campus or outside? Could someone give a list of cons while living in the campus? Internet connection is of course a must.. Where else, can someone tell me about the problems living outside of Nottingham? I am pretty much new in such things, can you all advise me on more details regarding to the university as well? Such as lifestyle and such. Every piece of information is highly regarded and thanked for. Also, some information about scholarships can be useful also. Currently looking over for Nanyang's scholarship. Any other information will be appreciated. PS: If you don't wish to spoonfeed me too much just hint me ya. Will be serving in National Service till 11th March so I hope I'd be able to catch up in time. Thank you. Thanks all for your help. |

So basically there is internet connection inside the campus but BT isn't allowed then? Hurm......
Is Screamyx service available outside of the campus? I have no problem cooking on my own.. Got the offcampus rental information already. Quite cheap and suits me.. especially the non aircon rooms. Problems would be who would wanna share rooms with a freako like me. This post has been edited by Enigmatic: Feb 21 2007, 01:42 PM |

Ah I see.. SO basically if you stay in a offcampus house, but under management.. You can't subscribe to your own Screamyx. You have friends who rented their house from someone else at Tasik 2 Halls and manage to get their internet connection, is that right?
Hmm... Seems that I gotta do more accommodation research. Any suggestions? I haven't even submitted my forms yet. Ugh. And I am going back to NS tomorrow. =.= |

QUOTE(vailance @ Sep 17 2007, 10:45 AM) yo! enig when u coming back.. miss u so much(im not gay) Mom kinda lazy to fetch me, so I'm probably going back by the end of this month. btw, i heard that the uni not is transfering the exchange novell server ... now all pc at tiscra are faster now, about wifi, i think still the same ,alow lah.. wifi are free to student ATM. Yea they changed Novell. I think it was written a few pages back. Mail was sent out to us iianm. Free wifi tak bole guna punyer.. If I remembered correctly they block p2p right? Even if I manage to bypass the blocks the speeds will be most likely disappointing, so I am thinking of hogging the tmnut hospot speed. PC at TISCRA faster already? Finally they found out having two antiviruses do eat up quite some space huh. |

Walk to uni? TTS5 is kinda close by. I usually go to uni around 10pm and come back by 4am or 5 LOL!! Either that or just camp there overnight. It was peaceful when only the foundation students were there though.
Or you can opt for Maxis broadband, but I went and ask before, it seems they don't have the service there. Well if you're desperate you can try out DiGi's EDGE plan promotion, damn nice promo but DiGi tends to have signal drops around the TTS5 area. @vailance Weeeeell, seems that we can improve our virus cleaning skills and not rely on Alex all the time huh? The IT Support group just sent a mail regarding this matter. They're gonna do something to the software for the wireless connection thingy. Well, hope their maintenance is totally different than that of Screamyx.

That, please ask exPeri3nc3. *not too sure if I spelt his darn name correct lol*
Well, for foundation course, it's pretty bad. As in, the subjects they choose for you is bad. Bah. What I've gathered from my friends in Degree is that we have decently BAD lecturers, some who don't even finish teaching their subjects and give you hellish hard UK standard questions. Get eXP to say more. Oh btw, one good reason why you shouldn't come here. Hate groupworks? You're gonna hate it more here. Especially when your helpful lecturers assign you to nigerians. Food is terrible so be prepared to drive or get good friends to drive you out. But it's pretty cheap if you eat mixed rice outside. Most people are kind, some are really b****y. Be careful with who you mix with. But you'll get to see all sorts of attitude here. Hurm.. Should I write a review? LOL This post has been edited by Enigmatic: May 15 2008, 06:05 PM |

Oh no worries you WILL be complaining about the food.
It's not just terrible, but expensive as well. Imagine getting charged RM8 for one scoop of beef + rice. And what you get for your food? Chicken liver.. chicken bones.. Vegetable which they cook to look brown so you won't know whether it's actually rOttEn or not. That's the campus cafe though. Ah well. I'm next for the defamation case. Oh as for the Nigerians... Part? Hahahahaha.. I don't think they even know they have to do their assignment. There are a couple of good Nigerians though, especially in Biotech. Will be back with a much thorough report and views after 1 year in the uni. Studying for exams now. This post has been edited by Enigmatic: May 16 2008, 01:45 AM |

@#$@#$
I have a feeling my results will suck. Wanna go de-stress myself with some games. Need 3650. Damn. Anyway, For those who are looking for houses, I know a person who has a couple of houses around TTS5 area, 5 minute walk from bridge, most of the houses are partially furnished. Price ranges from RM1.5k to RM1.8 for the whole house. Pretty cheap if you ask me, especially when you can get people to share up the rooms. You wouldn't be required to pay for the whole year. Just a couple months deposit to cover up the three months summer break you guys will be having. (Doesn't means you're paying for that three months, if you're not going to stay at the house for the subsequent year you can choose not to deposit three months. Just to secure the owner.) Either way, do call up: 0122095127 = Rajan Do let Mr. Rajan know that you're introduced by Caleb about the houses, as it clarifies things alot faster. You don't need to say 'I saw this post in LYN about housing rental bla bla bla' as I am just using this as a medium to tell you guys there are a couple houses for rental. QUOTE(eXPeri3nc3 @ Jun 24 2008, 01:00 PM) You do know that our house needs another tenant now? F*** them.Let them suffer. Pay more like hell I care. Sooner or later the owner of the house may want to raise/sell the house. Nearly all the houses in TTS5 already went up in prices, just within one year's time roughly went up about the range of 40~50% in house prices. The owner would not want to leave the rental that cheap forever. PS: The last I checked the house is plague with rats. Btw.. Let's do futon style la. Screw bed stands. QUOTE(Criptonox89 @ Jun 24 2008, 02:12 PM) LoL....that shouldn't be 5% anymore...anyway....are they friendly enough..? Local>int. students..? If you can get a few friends to share, check back a page back. Can get TTS5 houses for a cheap price. btw...may i know how much is the rental there..?non-campus....about single room...what's the price range...? Thanks.. If you have a car you can rent Sunway Semen-yih houses for a dirt cheap price. Ranges about RM250 which would cover for your electricity/water/screamyx. In TTS areas, depending on location, RM250 to RM600. Most expensive being about TTS5 houses, though short walking distance. This post has been edited by Enigmatic: Jun 24 2008, 02:47 PM |
