Hey.... I just got a Hp 2490 PDA which runs on WM5. The problem is, i cant seem to sync with my computer. I installed the program on the cd, then, after connecting everything and plug into USB port, nothing happens. The computer say Hp device detected, and "Error with installation, device may not work properly...etc etc" But then, the activesync cannot detect at all. I tried connectiong but it says "device not found" What should i do?

1) you must install the software first before connecting the hardware....

2) make sure your device is turned on.

3) try not to use those connector in front, use the ones at the back

4) make sure this doesn't go thru a USB hub.

5) Check if your cable is plugged in tightly.

if all else fail, try another usb slot.

still fail , try at other ppl's computer.

still fail, you have got a defective pda

When windows detect the hardware ask me to install...so i install. Then it says :

"There is a problem installing this hardware

HP USB sync

An eror occurred during the installation of the device

The device installation file of the device is missing a necessary entry. This may be because the INF was written for Windows 95 or later. Contact your hardware vendor "


I am using Win XP and this is the second computer i tried. Still the same. What does the error mean?

try to search at microsoft site on activesync 4.1, download and install
