Thank you for bringing up a very important point.

Many lay people cannot differentiate between the discipline of accountancy, finance and economics. To them they are all one and the same.

Ask me to create a customised portfolio of assets that will give certain return with a not more than a certain risk, now that I will do it with glee. Finance looks at the free capital market and how to optimise the return of investors capital.

Economics in a nutshell is how to allocate scare resources such as commodities to optimise its use.
