Dell isn't really at the forefront of technology - they're just good at mass-producing cheap branded PCs. I can't even think of any technology developed by Dell. Pay is good though.

Don't think so - Dell's strength is assembling PCs with parts from OEM, they rarely built their own parts in-house. Better luck trying somewhere else.
