I bought a black car just after Raya. And every week is raining until now. I wash my car everything with Meguairs wash and wax, then Meaguairs quick wax. but last saturday, I found that is a lot if water marks/stain/spot all around my car, is not very visible. but if you look closely it is very obvious. I don't know how to remove it. I trying to use the Meguairs quick detailer, but you need apply a lot of pressure just to remove a small water spot. can all the sifu here teach me how can I remove those water spot and maintain it?

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Nov 6 2013, 06:55 PM) Sticking to Megs product, you might want to try SwirlX for those...or my personal fav would be Duraglos 501. But I thought SwirlX is like polish will damage the top layer of the paint? I mean the top layer of the paint will get thinner. I remember I read somewhere before that black car is not suitable for SwirlX right? By the way, is Megs Quick Wax enough for me to use? How about Megs Liquid Wax or some other paste wax? What would you recommended?

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Nov 7 2013, 09:15 AM) SwirlX is a VERY MILD polish/paint cleaner. It could damage the clear coat or top layer of paint, only if you use it every month for the next 4 or 5 years. SwirlX is not a colour specific product and is suitable to any cars regardless of colour. The other possibilities whereby SwirlX would damage the clear coat is when it is used incorrectly and NOT for it's intended purposes. Megs Quick Wax is meant to be a 'topper wax' - used to top up or refresh existing wax on the surface after a wash. Megs Liquid/Paste Wax is a 'proper' wax. Basically, the priority would be to have a proper wax as the base layer then use a 'topper' (Megs Quick Wax) after a wash or when you see the protection has deteriorated - to refresh. Personally, my recommendation (for something that's available locally) is the Duragloss 105 Total Performance Polish (it's a sealant, regardless what it says on the bottle). I've never got a chance to really try out the latest Megs Ultimate range of waxes so it's just my personal recommendation based on those that I've tried. Oh, I see. Is SwirlX is kinda wax too? If I use Duragloss 105, I no need to use wax any more? Lets say, I will buy a wax ans Megs SwirlX for now. I need to apply SwirlX then only continue with Wax? Or the other way round?

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Nov 7 2013, 10:01 AM) SwirlX isn't a wax, it's a non-abrasive polish. Well...in a way...you can call DG 105 a wax la (though we here like to refer it as a sealant instead - which does the same job as a wax). The steps would be: 1. Use SwirlX to polish off, clean up and remove those mild defects, i.e. polish & wipe off. 2. Apply DG 105 3. After the next few washes or so, use Megs Quick Wax to top up (assuming you've already got that). Your car should then look pristine for the next few months without needing to use the SwirlX again....well...hopefully so if you get the washing part/techniques right.... Oh I see, I'm kinda clear right now. So, lets say now I was and apply the SwirlX and DG 105. Is not necessary for me to apply SwirlX and DG 105 anymore for couple of weeks even I wash the car weekly right? That mean after the SwirlX and DG 105, the weekly routine is just wash, and probably quick wax to top up. I am right?

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Nov 7 2013, 12:36 PM) Correctomundo........ Next round, you can opt not to use SwirlX if you don't see (or want to remove) those light defects like swirls, waterspots, difficult to remove stain, etc. You can just go straight for the DG105. OK thank you sifu~

QUOTE(windskill @ Nov 13 2013, 08:35 PM) 1. Wash, make sure you use two-bucket system. Not necessary need to use meguiars. There are still other cheaper products out there (eg: mothers, optimum car wash, etc.) 2. Lubricant can be quik detailer. Cheaper way would be using diluted car shampoo. Should be fine. For the type of claybar, need other sifu to point out too. 4. I leave this to other sifu too. Not very experience on this. 5,6. I guess wax and sealant, you just apply either one. I would say the term wax refers more towards natural wax whereas sealant is more about synthetic wax. Natural wax gives you glossy and wet shiny look. Synthetic provides last longer protection. These are what I know. I am still a beginner/learner too Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. what is two bucket system?

QUOTE(HeReLiSm @ Nov 14 2013, 11:39 AM) i read about it online. its a system where you wash your car using two different buckets; one for your washing bucket (water+shampoo), another is for clean water. first, you dip your sponge/wash cloth into washing bucket, then apply them to your car. then after that, before you re-dip the sponge/cloth back to the washing bucket, you have to rinse it first with clean water from another bucket. this is to remove all dirts that collected by the sponge/cloth before you continue. Very good advice! Will start to practice this method from today onwards.
