Hello folks, just wondering, the black plastic trim on my car is starting to look very dirty and contaminated after 5 years lol, any idea to restore/clean it?

Get a toothbrush (for intricate/small areas) or a shoe brush (for larger areas) and lightly scrub them with an all purpose cleaner, very light dilution of dishwashing detergent, or the like. Rinse them thoroughly and apply some trim/plastic dressing of your choice. Oh...and try not to let the apc/detergent/etc. dwell for too long or dry on the paintwork.

Actually tried that, multipurpose detergent but unfortunately didn't work D:
There are some white marks, I think it's the wax :/

Sigh my family didn't take good care of the car when I was oversea..

Someone do sell 3M clay here. But never use before ...

soft99 is more expensive, and doesn't clean well.

it's damn gentle though, too gentle if i may add, not too suitable for our climate/weather especially if you drive a lot.
moving on to something more aggressive as intro'd by bro krismas osren clay cloth.

i just visited osren in fact, but since their more senior staff aren't available, cant get good discounts for mass buys haha
never knew they were just under my nose all the time as it is just few blocks away from my previous car body repair workshops (ive moved on to another workshop for my genting accident repairs)

The one available here is not like yours....more like this one: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2448036/all

Price? Well....errrr....can get it at around RM80, and I think it's almost twice the size of that one from Chemical Guys....

Osren (looks like I'm sounding more and more like their reps now tongue.gif ). Yup. I think it's a little bit on the aggressive side and can marr the paint a little (though can easily be removed with a light polish). But you can clay the whole car in as much time as it take to wash it.

Er.. I didn't get mine at RM80! Guess I need to give Henry a call tongue.gif unsure.gif whistling.gif

how do u guys remove oil stains from the car paint?
the car mechanic touched all over the back of my car and normal shampooing won't remove it as i can still see the print.

in the end i used dish washer detergent and gave it a good rub as it is still very stubborn, swirls all over d sad.gif

I'm sure I didn't get it for that price, but that might be the new pricing as I got mine back in August of 2012, have the receipt to "proof" tongue.gif cool2.gif And I'm sure Henry is already giving the best price possible for my purchases, especially for the last few purchases, I'm happy I don't have to go all the way to Jalan Ipoh for a small item these days. biggrin.gif Top notch service by them so I ain't exactly complaining.

yeah probably just old pricing, maybe they able to sell more, import/manufacture more hence lower cost, similar to most of ikea's products biggrin.gif

it's more of a cloth instead of mitt, buying it tomorrow if Henry/erik/kj's around for better discounts lol

As per Osren or our sifu Krismas , keep it damp or soaked in water

LOL...not really cuz not even sure whether it'll work without knowing what car and type of plastic that is. But you can try whatever wax/polish/sealant you have just to see whether it'll make any difference. Worst come to worst, you could wrap it or spray a coat of paint/plastidip to cover it.
