Hi, I'm a noob to mtb and thinking of getting one for about $1000. What color should I choose? I think yellow/black or chrome looks good.

I strongly agree with you. Just like when you ask a rich man what car to buy under $100,000 and he will tell you it's all the same. To him its all subjective.

MTB in this forum has become an elitist sport, insults and sarcasm are its prodigal fruits.

@Broadica,

I believe that is a flawed argument. Here's why:

1. If you want to buy a 4X4, that doesn't mean you are going to go serious off roading. Most likely 90% of those 4X4 owners have never been to one but is buying a Toyota 4X4 the same as buying a Kia 4X4? Surely not.

2. All products, including MTB, 4X4 or even shoes has some form of product differentiation. Some products are just better than others even in the similar price range even if the difference may be marginal.

3. This is an MTB thread and thus it should cater for people who are interested in MTB and not necessarily for serious off-roading alone. Those who do serious MTB most likely are less than those who want to just ride an MTB or have some fun in their Taman. By saying that anything less than $1000, you just choose color, you are not addressing the biggest number of MTBer's who are casual and not serious riders and we are asking MTB questions in an MTB forum.
