@tvcat - my budget is around 1.5k - 2k for the whole bike. i will just use the bike to roam around KL since there are no nearby trails here at my place.

It's better to indicate your budget here. For some riders, cheap is RM6K, some cheap is RM2K...different people different opinion. To me RM3K entry level bike..if you're serious about MTB...

you talked about cheap bike, you talked about wanting to built your bike and also simply fulfill your hunger of biking.
bro.. thats very subjective and vague! biking can mean alot of things... tarmac, taman or etc. be more specific on your budget and type of riding you want.

here specifically are mountain biking = offroad biking. so the page 1 guide are pretty good place to start with. read it and do some home work on the bikes you think you like by going to bike shop then come back with a more specific question so that people can help you. help us to help you!!

@all - "Bicycle Malaysia" the online bike store. Is it OK to deal with them? they really sell bikes at a reasonable price. They offered me Venzo Scud or Fuji Nevada which is in my budget.

i bought a cheapo bike. hahaha it's a venzo scud 29 components are good but the fork sucks and the wheelset is heavy as a tank.

anyone here lives near UM whose willing to accompany me to the nearest trail?
