QUOTE(sebnimh84 @ May 13 2013, 02:17 PM) 2013 SLX and XT only differences are 3 components from SLX are plastic in comparison to XT. Thanks will look into it....And like how Bikeradar had put it; (http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/shimano-slx-2013-unveiled-33285/) "offering a similar level of performance to Deore XT at a much lower price" SLX dah lah Means that the new SLX is comparable with XT, what are the 3 components that are plastic? THanks. QUOTE(chamelion @ May 13 2013, 02:42 PM) What are the different in brake system comparison between XT and SLX?As I was told XT shifter are so much better compare to SLX. Definitely I am going to get a "Shadow Plus" rear derailer. |

If SLX, SLX all the way, if Acera, Acera all the way. But, to me, full drive train and different cranks, its also good looking.not a major set back... with or without both still works for most people but whole group set is cheaper than you try to mix and match individual component |

QUOTE(ahmeduk88 @ May 14 2013, 12:24 PM) Well, to each his own. But i think 2013 SLX looks high and mighty. the cranks look very good. Brakes looks like its very good to be used with one finger. SLX 2013 groupset gooding, I have a 2 friends who are using the SLX groupset - crank is pretty light, brakes are good enough for 1-finger use, RD and FD also gooding.buuuuuuuuut i dont like Long cages... hahaha |

QUOTE(sebnimh84 @ May 15 2013, 08:40 AM) RM1900 mahal ooo! But with brakes ok-la. If I were to buy the groupset I'd take it without the brakes, no Shimano brakes for me http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/category...brakes-12-45311bikeradar review slx brake is best value of money, of course it not the best brake |

QUOTE(bulkhy @ May 15 2013, 11:51 AM) RM1900 is same price as XT.Ha! Ha! HA! Anyway... SLX or XT or XTR or SRAM X9 X0 or what not... Which one is better? Between Shimano and SRAM... Personal preference. Unless someone used both before, then they can tell you. If not, its better to read review for some hint. SLX to XT to XTR... Which one better... Blind also know, the more you pay, the better it gets. Or else, what for having different grade? And... if you are moving from Alivio or Deore or some chekai no brand system... any of these will give you satisfaction. So... yeah... it is all up to you. One last thing. Choose the one within your budget and it looks good on your bike. He! He! |

But for a guy running non-series hydraulics, it would be nice to have those cooling fins on the slx or zee. I keep on overheating my brakes and they lose some biting force. This sucks when going downhill. I think, for my skill level, even deore will be enough.
But i've been riding my friends better rides and yes, even one grade up, things feel much better. If we can afford it, why not. Get whats best. And in my opinion, its quite ok to overbuild a bike. Btw, i have a question, anyone know if where we can change the hubs from normal QR to 10mm through bolt on. Its just the axle bolt that needs change right? I have formula sealed bearings.
