most cars that are imported to south east asian region follows ASEAN NCAP, which is quite lenient. thus lots of safety features have been scrapped out cars such as Honda, Volkswagen and Peugeot, for reduction of cost.
If South east asia, such as Malaysia, enforces Australian NCAP or even EURO NCAP, then we will have the same cars.

read properly.. head protecting airbags for front seat. its curtain for front seat. side impact airbags does not protect the head. nowadays xurtain airbags ada 3 deployement points for each side.. straight to the back.  the required for 5 star is just for front seat but the added curtain till back is a bonus. u kan pandai research .
