I don't use the default cam and these are taken with ProShot, but I think it's safe to say that your camera is borked.

My unit is actually corrupt as well, but it's just the common crash/reboot/hardlock/SD card problem and in rare occasions the display goes all stripey or the camera goes green. Haven't got around to taking it to Nokia Care yet.

way bro mind share how u take the first 2 shots? What settings u used. Really amazing shots there.

As mentioned, I use ProShot since the stock app is severely lacking in options and it looks like they want you to use lenses unlike how it was in WP7.

Using ISO 100 helps with keeping details as much possible since at higher values Nokia's algorithm tend to over-compensate and sharpness/details are lost, even if you can remove the noise in post-process. Obviously this is not always feasible, especially when dealing with low-light and moving objects. If you have one of those Gorilla tripod, it'll help a lot with taking night landscape since max shutter in ProShot is 4 sec. I don't have one, so I often have to settle with higher ISO.

I usually play around with Saturation and Contrast to get the mood I'm looking for. As for macro shots like the grass one, I use manual focus - usually at 5-10%. Nice bokeh.  thumbup.gif I tend to under-expose my shots too, especially sunset/rise shots. Like the one above, I set the EV to -2 to keep highlight clipping as low as possible. For normal use, it usually hovers around -0.3 to -1. Hope that helps.

Lastly I'm just an amateur with no technical background unlike some of the gurus here so if you're looking for pro tips, you're probably better off asking them haha.  sweat.gif  sweat.gif
Currently I think there's a way to install Pro Cam on 512MB devices but you'll need Amber/GDR2 update for it to work. I have no experience with Pro Cam yet but from what I can see it's probably very similar in function with ProShot so you may want to hold your breath before spending any money on ProShot. ProShot does have some niceties though, like full-res timelapse function, real-time histogram, real-time level and grids but IMO they're just extras.
*
nice biggrin.gif haha I also new usually using stock camera nia always thinking how to thinker with ISO and other settings cuz the stock camera as u mentioned lack alot of settings. doh.gif
At least a guideline how to take macro shots now. U bought the app eh?? biggrin.gif

Yeah I think I bought without actually trying lol but that was long ago. The UI is kinda clunky but the dev is very active, always updating his app with new features and fixes. If you're not fussy with RM6+ then I say just go ahead and buy it. Be warned though if you're planning to install Pro Cam then a lot of ProShot functions are redundant.

If you wanna play around with manual focus, Camera360 has it too but I'm not sure if it takes full res pictures. I don't use it since it's got a lot of baggage like filters and library that I don't need.
*
use before 360 but not much option too. ProShot and ProCam diff? o_O why u say if intall Pro Cam ProShot redundant? I dun mind spending on quality app ^^

Anyway our L720 really can capture good low light settings. If last time I try capture pictures like below only show one dot. Upon zoom can see the clouds and shape shadowing the moon.
Sorry about the noise, using all defaults settings.

To install Nokia Pro Cam on Lumia 720
You will need
1)Wifi
2)Your phone.
3)patience

First go to settings--->wifi
then tap on your wifi network and turn proxy on
Type in 117.135.139.179 and 8888 for port.
save it
Now go to windows store and tap on nokia collection you should see nokia pro cam now. Install it.
Lastly turn off proxy and change your region back to malaysia den back to United States to clear store cache.
That's about it.
Also remember to be patience as it will need Amber Update to work.

Greetings!

I've been admiring this phone for quite some time would like to know those current users of this phone is there any problems or anything that I should take note before getting it? In terms of user experience and apps (i'm not an instafag so I don't really care about that app)

I'm planning to get a new phone next month and the 720 falls within my budget.
*
It's a really performance and great phone for the price u are paying. If you are into camera in night settings or taking pictures in low light its definitely worth it. smile.gif
Aside of sometime random restarts nothing much. This happens once in a blue moon tho can refer back to other users.
The fluidity of the OS and everything is awesome with no hint of lag despite low specs. smile.gif
If you are like me heavy user for web browsing and just using apps like whatsapp, wechat. I couldn't recommend any other phone than the Awesome Lumia 720 ^^

compared to GS3?
*
The main question always falls back on Apps ba. If you are just using for whatsapp, wechat, etc its definitely nice. Depends on what apps u are using ba there are alot of quality apps on Windows Phone already. smile.gif
Comparing S3 with Lumia, many would have gone with S3 but for me I'll stay with the 720 due to my nature of taking night scene or low light photos. ^^
The camera is one thing that I would never let go and never seen other Android Phones in this range can take such good low light photo. Had compared with One X and S3 for this and they are still loosing behind. However in bright outdoor scenes S3 takes better and more real life like especially in bright colours(red, yellow).

Hi TQ for your reply. Reason I asking here is because the only time I can get to test the phone is when I go to any nokia store's. None of my family members owns a windows phone. 360' degrees all samsung/iphones only lol so no chance to test drive wins phone also.
*
Haha I was same like you before I got my Lumia 720. Was playing around in the Store many times till my previous ZTE phone died on me. So I decided to give it a try and get a Lumia 720. Everything works fine and well from the first day. And guess what I'm the first Lumia user in my entire class(out of roughly 60 peoples). All see liao also wahh lend ur phone see haha. If u get the yellow color the effect would be multiplied xD I got the black as yellow was OOS.
Overall it is a great phone with ease of transfer. U can sync contact from ur gmail, microsoft, outlook and simcard.
One best feature I MUST highlight is you are able to link mutliple contacts into one Name.
EG: U have Sam from Microsoft with his email, his contact number on your Sim Card and his FB Profile. You can link these account into one Single Name - Sam. Previously I was looking for this function in Android and none has worked well as Windows Phone. So I have duplicates everywhere. It's very easy and helpful for me ^^

The only downside as I mentioned is having random restarts sometimes(dosen't happens always maybe once in few months or so and not everyone face this problem).

So yeah there goes my long essay ^^ but I'm still happy with my L720

Random restart with soft reset occurs alot for me too lately, after installing 6tag. When i was using instance no such problem. But my friends 720 has the opposite problem, had so many random restart with instance and now use 6tag no problem at all. App optimisation prob  blink.gif

And any new owners leave a message i shall update it smile.gif
*
I don't use instance or 6tgram :'( only apps I have use often are Bing weather, whatsapp and wechat Lehh

I wish Nokia would have come out Lumia with Water Resistant then if dirty right can just throw the phone inside water then take up and wipe~~ So envy those Xperia users can do that sad.gif

Hi, I got a few questions and appreciate answers.

1. Nokia Here. Can we upgrade it to Here+ and how much would it cost?
2. Whatapps. Any issue with this? Slow performance etc?
3. Any 3rd party internet browsers like Opera available?
4. Can you hook the phone to computer using wire/bluetooth and transfer files without the need for Zune etc? Just like what you can do with N8?

Thanks.
*
1) I'm not quite sure with Here+ but Here does works well if you are not planning to use it overseas other than Malaysia I think. This need other sifu to confirm biggrin.gif
2) With current update whatsapp works flawleslly for me ^^
3) Currently most widely used 3rd party browser is UC Browser if I ain't wrong. Personally used it for a while but IE worsk much finer for me ^^ UC Browser have some great function such as speed mode, night reading mode and most importantly rotation lock.
4) Just use it like a normal thumbdrive drag and drop. ^^

Haha. I think I still not satisfied cause I never get to molest it kao kao at phone shop. laugh.gif How's the everyday use apps? Like FB and Whatsapp? I see on the windowsphone store all giving low feedback and ratings. Forget the youtube app, that's a real blooper incident lol.
*
hehe everyday apps such as whatsapp working fine for me after recent updates. Fb wise I dun get it as I usually just go to mobile page as windows phone already sync my fb notification. However it isn't perfect, their built in Facebook chat msging unable to chat properly. Try the msging app on windows 8 its awful as that. Just the chat tho. 😃 U got time go molest it more lo hehe
