Hi guys,

I just hooked up a 4 ch amp to a deh-80prs.
The front tweeter and mids is wired in active to each channel of the 4ch amp.
The installer removed the passive crossover from the mids, but retain it for the tweeter.

He said the power from the amp is too much for the tweeter, so must still attached with the crossover.
Is this true ?
Cannot connect directly to the tweeter ?

Well, you have to give more info like the tweeter rms and the 4 channel rms.If its around the same then no need the crossover. Another thing, if your 4 channel have separate gain for then you can adjust the gain lower for the tweeter to match with the speaker sound.

u can run active for tweets. juz need to match the gain. overall ur tweets gain will be lower than mids gain.
to be safe gain settings on amp:
tweeter gain - 8-9oclock
mids gain - 10-12oclock

preferably xover on tweets 2500hz or above at min 12db slope. 6db is not recommended for ur tweets

u can fine tune the level from ur hu proc..
happy icing..

U can safely run your tweeters active provided you have done the right xover settings from HU or amp. With correct cut off freq they can handle the power of ur amp but if not done properly even 15W will burn them. So make sure when u first connect them, keep ur vol knob min, adjust the xover first and then increase the volume. U will b safe.

Another thing is u can put a small capacitor inline with positive wire of ur tweeter to protect it from any DC surge smile.gif
