1. Can I join a class that has already started? Can I enroll late?

This varies on a class-by-class basis, and is a decision that's left to the individual instructors and their respective universities. For the classes that we have currently running, you'll at least be able to watch the lecture videos, even if you joined late.

2. How can I see my grades and the certificates I have earned?

You can see a list of your earned certificates on the Course Records page: https://www.coursera.org/account/records

Alternatively, after logging in to coursera.org, you can put your mouse over your name in the upper-right corner, and then click "Course Records." This takes you to the same page as above.

On this page you will see the courses in which you earned a certificate, as well as the final grade (%) you earned in each. Please note that only certificates since mid-October 2012 will appear. Also note that if the partnering university is not offering certificates, your score will not be listed on your course records page:

3. Are the classes free?

Exactly which classes are offered depends on our partner universities, and so we are currently unable to directly act on class recommendations. We and our partner universities will definitely continue to add exciting new courses, however, and we'll reflect your feedback to them. Stay tuned!

5. Why is my Certificate or Statement of Accomplishment not in my records?

If your course has just recently ended, or if your professor has just announced that certificates should be available, it may take a day for your certificate to actually appear in your records page, since it takes time to generate certificates for so many students. Also note that if the partnering university is not offering certificates, your score will not be listed on your course records page.

If your course ended some time ago, please look for your certificate or statement of accomplishment at https://www.coursera.org/account/records. If you do not see your certificate here, click the button to show all courses and make sure you're registered as being enrolled in the course. If you see your course but do not have a certificate for it you can click on the question mark button to the right of the course to see the grading criteria for earning a certificate. If after reading the grading policy you believe it was a mistake that you did not receive a certificate, feel free to contact us!

6. Will I get university credit for taking this course?

You will not get credit with our partner universities.

However, some students who are currently enrolled at other universities have been able to get credit for taking these courses at their own university (sometimes as individual research units).  If you are a currently enrolled student, you might want to check with your university to see if this is an option.

7. What format are the classes in?

Our classes vary widely in format, but a typical class will consist of short lecture videos between 5 and 15 minutes in length. These will contain integrated quiz questions. There will also be standalone homeworks (anything from quizzes to programming assignments or short essays) that are not part of video lectures. Depending on the class, there could also be one or more exams.

8. What if my password reset is not working?

There are a few possibilities to check that may solve this problem:

1) The email could have gone into your spam folder. Please check to make sure it's not there. To be safe, add noreply@coursera.org to your allowed list, and try again.

2) Older browsers can cause problems with this process. Please make sure you are using one of our recommended browsers and that your browser is up to day.

If these two possibilities do not solve your problem, it may be due to these two other issues:

3) The email could have been blocked by your email provider. Our emails are sometimes flagged as spam, due to the volume that we send out.

4)  You could have mistyped your email address when you first signed up. This might be the case if you haven't been getting any other email notifications from us. If this is the case, please send us an email so that we can further investigate your situation.

Sometimes clearing your browser's cookies and cache could help correct the issue. If this is still a problem after these previous steps, please contact us through the link at the bottom so we can help and we are very sorry for the inconvenience.
