Heard that if you missed it, you have to wait for next day. For my case, usually the update notification comes around 7-8am, I am not sure with yours. Try to stay online during that time. If you never receive update notification, try to re-pin marketplace as live tile.

So, there is indeed no options to manually check for updates... doh.gif

Unless you want go to store and check 1 by 1 which is a pain. sweat.gif

That is what im doing for the apps i use frequently, and i rely on WPcentral, and their forums and also here to get to know newer versions of apps. But i only update those like Proshot, FB, etc frequently, the rest, just let the phone update it should it detects a newer version. sweat.gif

erm, want to ask,
in settings, got phone update menu,
if i uncheck all boxes,

will i still get apps update?

software update =/= app update right?

i already update using NSU to 1308, so no point to use the automatic check update right?
*
Should be different, not too sure; but despite my phone switch on auto check i still manually check.

QUOTE(solution2u @ Apr 4 2013, 05:47 PM)
Unfortunately, Samsung did not put much effort into WP. Unlike Samsung, Nokia has a lot of exclusive app, games and Nokia keep on updating their software to make the phone even better. If you prefer Samsung over Nokia, I suggest get Galaxy S4 or Note 2 instead. However, if you prefer WP, I suggest you get a Nokia phone instead. This is just my opinion.
Samsung doesnt give an eff about windows phone; from last august till now, how many months already, and they just announced and released only ONE windows 8 phone (I wouldnt count that ATIV Odyssey since it is a USA-only model), what kind of sick joke is that. Because other people make one, they also make one (WP8 phone), even if it sells only 10,000 or 20,000 units worldwide they dont care. I do have a feeling that Samsung might screw with android as well if their Tizen OS becomes successful. They dont care about WP, and even openly criticized windows RT. They didnt want WP to be a competitor to their own Tizen phones. I do have the feeling where Samsung will abandon WP, following LG and Dell. Android will not be that dominant today without Samsung (and those cheap China knockoffs).

I think that's possible, i have tried shaking my phone violently a bit while the phone is taking photo with only the stock camera, and the movement blurs are actually nice. The only issue is how you put that potential to good use.

GSMarena - "this is one of the most disappointing accessories we have seen".

http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-wireless-...ing-pad-review/

Da heck, why would a 2600mAh battery needs up to 4 hours to charge? My 920 needs 2 and half hours only to fully charge for a 2000mAh battery. Im starting to wonder how long it takes for future lumia devices which have larger batteries to charge wirelessly.

The hype for Lumia 920 is slowly slow down, this is the most underrated device for this year/last year sad.gif
*
Because Lumia 928 is coming soon LOL. I dont expect any big changes though, the real big change is the Lumia 950 this year end (if you take the Nokia N95 as a good omen), it might be quite successful. There are 2 rumors recently, one about the 950 having both OIS and oversampling (around 20-21MP), and the second one was Sony making a cybershot and walkman phone of 20MP also. Given the Sony cybershot phone might be real, i wish Nokia do something to stuff in an epic camera into the next Lumia.

To be honest i dont want Sony to win tongue.gif If ony wins then the fagdroids' attitude will become worse thinking android has everything in the smartphone world from powerful processors to fantastic hardware.

I think the display is important as well.
If Nokia not going for 1080p for the flagship this year then it is killing itself, although it depends on MS also.
Not because of the usefulness of FHD, but because of the trend.
Nowadays consumers care more about spec on paper, not practical function...  sweat.gif
*
But, if it's under 5 inch i dont see a need for 1080p, but like u said, it's a trend, and a stupid one... most windows 7 laptops still running 768p or 900p. I personally think Lumia 950 this october will be around 4.7-4.8' but dimensions same as Lumia 920, they trim down the bezels. Lumia 928 is just a 920 variant with aluminium build, i dont see it will have many upgrades.

If there were no limitations set by microsoft and im designing phones in Nokia, i'd come up with a phone between 5-5.5' and slap in 2560 X 1600 screen, 3Gb RAM, Snapdragon 800, 4000mAh battery and 128Gb memory then tell the Android world out there "SUCK THIS!!". Ok, it's going to cost like a bomb.

I wonder if it is possible to add in this feature to windows phones, you know, in a PC, under right click > properties > personalisation you can change screen resolution (although everyone uses the maximum, and it only changes when u run an old software/game than runs on lower res). If that is applied to phones, the auto resolution change when an app runs should solve many app incompatibility problems.

in b4 fanboy comment...

Can any 920 user tell what the average battery life for moderate usage... Thinking to get one to spice up life but hoping at least it can stand a little more than 8 hours for moderate usage...
*
Im not using data, my bluetooth and NFC is 24hrs on, wifi, i use it a few hours each day. A few texts, not much calls, and hours of music. Lasts 2 days. I think my usage is under moderate. Battery drain is quite significant when i play game for, like, 1 hour, when i use data over long periods, or take too many photos with te camera, but again, i havent updated my phone to portico which improves battery life. Buying a new model now has portico preinstalled.

until yesterday the touchscreen died

anyone has similar experience using ProShot?

Ya, green screen i kena once before also, but after i restart no problem liao. I took like 50-60 shots in less than 15 mins with proshot.

So, Windows on PC = blue screen, Windows on phone = green screen huh

Lumia 820 dropped even faster, my friend bought at 1599, now 11XX can get liao LOL. If Lumia 820 is RM 11XX, and Lumia 720 is at RM 999, then Lumia 820 is more worth it, 1 Gb of RAM.

why nokia phone drop so fast 1?...
*
Lumia 820 was never that popular; As for Lumia 920, i think that's because a new Lumia is coming out in May. The Lumia 928 might be for USA but there might be an international variant as Lumia 930. We sont know. Just like last year Lumia 900 was made specially to cater the USA market (But it was on AT&T's GSM network instead of Verizon's CDMA) but we still get it later after 2 months. 930 should be just a slight change compared to 920 (and 900, 920, 930 are all similar in some way), just like the old N90, N91, N93 were slight upgrades. N95 = radical change compared to N93. So, we can expect Lumia 950 this year end to be awesome. Well, i dunno if i should be comparing this way lol... biggrin.gif

but the new 928 is quiet sexy enough! how did they manage to put the xenon without making the phone bulky and big?? I am looking forward to know it (rumor say that it is slimmer than L720 which is 9mm thick)

QUOTE(red streak @ Apr 8 2013, 01:45 AM)
iPhones are probably the only (perceived) premium smartphones on the market. The other companies suck at managing consumer perception when all they do is release flagship phone after phone, which in turn results in consumer confusion and a perceived lack of value when the RM2000+ phone you bought 6 months ago from a company (Nokia/Samsung/HTC..whoever) now has a new and better version. A lot of non-Apple users get pissed off at the random release cycle but Samsung is slowly learning and is copying Apple's style.
*
Apple's profit margins are insane, among the highest out of all phone manufacturers. The manufacture cost of a single iPhone 5 is less than RM 700. Consumers are still foolishly paying over 3 times the amount, even inclding marketing costs and everything, an iPhone's initial cost is less than RM 1000.
