Hi guys, kind of headache when want to change the HU for my coming 9th Honda Civic. I wish to use Kenwood or other branded 2 Din HU but the Acc Shop says have to cut wire in order to connect harness for the steering control. Worse is Honda is giving 5 years warranty, so I got to avoid they raise excuses to void the warranty by touching the HU wires.

If using OEM like recommended Motevo Kung Fu 2 Din HU then just plug and play, but I heard sound quality is not good comparing to branded one.

I will upgrade my HU with all front and rear speakers with 2 Amp, and 2 x 12' woofer. Alpine component speakers but amp and woofer are cap ayam and I only listen to mp3. So, will OEM matter the sound quality ?

All advices are appreciated especially those with Motevo installed.

branded 1 will always sound better than any other oem brand outside, no matter whatever good sound they claimed.

if your installer using pnp connecteor, then even a aftermarket not pnp 1 will become pnp...so no worry on warranty.

adding amp and sub will be consider pnp as there's no need to cut any wires, but there's many wires to be lay on the car....so in case of anything happen, you just need to remove them and go claim ur warranty.

Just to update,I decided to return and changed back to my old Kenwood after using 1 day of Motevo HU.

The vocal was too bad until I could not recognize the singer, the set not really compatible to the car system such as usb and steering button. Overall seliing point is only the built in GPS, but it hang and all black screen when I navigated to Kulim, I needed to touch the tiny close button to force close. The software was not friendly.....ex, I need to select a state before I can search the POI.

I would not spend near RM2K for it. Run for your life.

The situation was not like that. I wanted to use Kenwood initially with harness for steering, but later found that my 7039 too old for the harness. At first I thought and they proposed to upgrade my amp to Alpine 4ch amp could solve the sound problem for Motevo if there was ( Since my amp also broken), plus I wished to use the steering control so. I took the risk to try Motevo.

Now, I can compromise the steering control temporary for sound quality. rclxub.gif

Yes, I went to other shop they said can. I did not show them, just told the model name. Anyway, my near 6 year old Kenwood HU already has broken DVD Rom, plus I find that Kenwood is no longer active. You can see the local website has not been updated since 2010, they don even reply my email.

So will change to Pioneer later which can support IOS apps.
