http://www.lipstiq.com/2013/02/20/the-beau...dards-in-k-pop/what do you guys think of the beauty standards in kpop? i personally think that they are the same all over the world, just like how americans wanted to have big boobs and tanned skin. or maybe beauty standard shouldn't even exist at the first place.

In my POV its the mix of modern fashion and less estreme J-pop style. They still look very modern, better than those from the 80s, 90s, but we can somehow see some similarities of current k-pop style with the oldies, in terms of the pattern of the clothes they wear, how they wear it.... in which, u rarely find those older fashion pattern in current j-pop style.
One type of clothes i noticed which is famous in sunway is the polka dots/no polka dots, no ribbon around the neck and sleve-less, half visible shirt. Back to 20 years ago, plain sleve-less shirt with simple color and polka-dots/no polka-dots was quite famous for girls to attend party. Now this shirt just added with big ribbon and half visible and is quite famous in k-pop style.
Another thing is, the use of accessories in k-pop is also more frequent compare to oldies. Just not as much as extreme j-pop

Just not as much as extreme j-pop well fashion wise, i think they are pretty stylish for me. but only in korea we can wear like them. in kl, only very few of them are wearing like the kpop stars. but anyway, what i'm taking about here is the beauty standards in kpop haha. not the fashion sense.

I have a Korean teacher and she told me that most of the beauty is "plastic" and in everyday life- it's very hard to catch all those skinny girls like in their TV and Dramas..etc. Her words might be a bit contradicting though because there are LOADS of them >< Even she is going to get "surgery" for her beauty. In terms of style, I think Koreans are taking back what was stylish before(1960-70's era) and making it a little more modernised and adding a western twist on it. It's very unique ^^
