QUOTE(antt00 @ Feb 23 2013, 08:03 PM) Seriously if u dun give any info your post will just be another complain with no solution. I mean what's the point of you posting. okie, sorry for not being detailed because I was rushing for time as I had dinner appointment. I tried a few methods the other day and failed then today decided to try again. Last few times, i flashed through Odin for the Philips CWM, flash counter increased but always overlapped by the original one. Reason being I think I used Odin 3.04 and 3.07. Today I used the older version and it worked v1.85 (deemed the most stable?). So I press volume up + home + power button and went into the custom recovery. Happily installed Vanilla RootBox at first, first attempt failed. Rebooted itself and stuck. Boot into recovery again, installed successfully but the boot screen, appeared the normal boot screen but went distorted like flickering.. then died. Had to try another rom, Liquid. Same results. Now I am back to original firmware and plan to try again later. I will update again later. |

I dont know which part I have done wrong but I hope fellow sifus can help me to ROOT my phone.
So yesterday I screwed up the recovery image in my phone and I had the original firmware back up running well. Today, I attempt to try again (first phone giving me so many problems in rooting, previously attempted only once The thing is, Odin always told me it's successfully and auto reboot my phone ( I even unchecked auto reboot and manually boot into recovery mode). It always replace my custom recovery to stock recovery. Has anybody encountered the same issue I did? I am currently on the latest firmware. Do you think it's possibly the latest firmware is harder to root? |

QUOTE(tot31 @ Feb 24 2013, 11:27 AM) Ok sure. Firstly, I installed all the necessary drivers. Got it detected in Odin via download mode. I tried 3 custom recovery so far: i) recovery-cwm-6.0.1.9-N7100 ii) philz_touch_4.35-n7100.tar iii) recovery-twrp-2.3.2.3-N7100 I also used three different version of Odin (3.04, 3.07 and lastly 1.85) I followed the instructions clearly stated in the website. Only Auto Boot and F.Reset Time are checked. I put the recovery image through PDA option and click start. It went well and said successfully, the bar turned to green and the phone auto restart. However, it didn't directly boot into recovery. Just went straight to Android and I checked through download mode, after I power it off for the first time after I flashed the recovery, the flash counter increased. System binary and status turned to "Custom". Sounds good. So I manually boot into recovery by volume up + home + power. Here, it will either flash and flicker the normal SGN N7100 boot screen and then turned off, OR.. It will boot to stock recovery where it stated Android Recovery 3e. I tried so many times with various methods and recoveries. I even tried Galaxy N7100 toolkit. It's still the same. My current build number is XDMA6 (Malaysia) and I did enabled USB debugging via developer mode. |

QUOTE(tot31 @ Feb 24 2013, 12:12 PM) so you are already rooted right. You just failed to install custom recovery right ? If you are already rooted the best method for me to install TWRP recovery and chenglu's CWM is by using Mobile Odin Pro. I got zero problems using Mobile Odin Pro. This app is worth to buy. No, im not rooted yet because when I try to install super user or busybox manually it cant be used. |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Feb 24 2013, 02:20 PM) Why so leceh ??? Thanks Benny. I followed your way in your blog post and had successfully rooted my phone Just do ONE only - start it off with CWM : Easiest use Chenglu method to flash it - read post #5 my blog post - GUARANTEED will work. ANY Odin version can be used and just stick to any one version After you flash it , it will not auto boot to recovery mode but instead it will reboot phone. Check your recobvery status by pressing volup+power+home button After you have successfully install CWM, than you can flash the TWRP zip under recovery mode to change to TWRP recovery Anyway, does anyone encountered a boot screen error like I do? Or is it normal for AOKP rom? I still prefer AOKP then sammy based rom. A lot of bloatwares i dont like This post has been edited by off_shore: Feb 25 2013, 02:58 PM |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Feb 25 2013, 05:06 PM) AOKP not recommended as most do not recognize Exfat format of external sdcard After trying rootbox and miui based on sammy rom, I decided to switch to project aosp that is on sammy rom as well with samsung apps. Only with aosp feels. Everything is blue hehe.Secondly if you wish to swap external sd as internal memory not possible Most TW based roms are good enough Use titanium backup uninstall all bloatware use say nova or apex launcher to replace tw launcher if you hate it. These will give you nexus like vanilla UI experience |

Which rom r u on now?Read the respective xda thread and see what appeals to you n read too user comments There is no quick answer Test yourself Choose which rom you want to test n ask for opinions here is better |

QUOTE(juruteknikmuda89 @ Mar 6 2013, 10:59 AM) I got Note 2 issue on my hand. if you have the firmware from sammobile, flash it using Odin (which you did). Now go to recovery mode ( vol up + home + power button ) > factory reset. You would be able to boot into the OS.My situation as below: recently I've changed my note 2's ROM to Canogenmod 10.but unfortunately i forgot to install Gapps after i finished installing canogenmod10.so i quickly use Odin to reformat back to original stock (4.1.2) firmware. After finished install it.i tried to restart back my note 2 and it boot until the samsung logo and it keep repeating and repeating to boot again until i pull back the battery. FYI i did rooted my note2 and i didnt do the unrooting process before i changed to Canogenmod 10.plus my last binary count is 2. So my questions is: 1.If i send my note 2 back to Samsung Service is there any chance they willing to reformat back?my note 2 is SME warranty 2.Is there any possible fix can i do if i dont sent back my note 2 to samsung service? hope someone can help me on this |
