Some card readers are very small, just like thumbdrive. Yes you can use the SD in other gadgets like camera... I prefer the idea of card + reader smile.gif but then, I don't really care about speed or performance. What's a few seconds? tongue.gif

SD card have a considerable read and write speed...the problem lies with the reader...if ur reader uses 1.0 or 1.1 then it shud be slow...SD card is oso more compact so its easier for storage but its oso easier to lose it.

but consider expandability....will u buy this sd card with reader than this thumbdrive...now 1gb thumbdrive is ard rm129~..then this sd card 1gb is rm149 not yet include reader..so when buy the reader will cost whole ard rm160-170 ++ sad.gif

Thumb drive is all-in-one package and ready to use anytime. As for SD, you need a reader. The all-in-one reader is a little bulky as compared to thumb drive where some of them are very mini in size.

The good part for using SD is expandibility and SD is getting cheaper now. It'll be very convenient if you have gadgets that also use SD as the storage medium such as PDA, digicam and etc.

SD card using as thumb drive, can be a new idea. But normally ppl won't go for SD cards as they don't need them. But lets say that you have PDA or digicam, will you just keep on switching the SD card from the reader into your gadgets so offer?I think that is not really convinient for that.Buy the SD cards and thumb drives for using seperately according to your purposed,it's more easier.

This is a no brainer. Go with SanDisk Ultra II SD Plus cards. It's a normal-sized SD card, which can be transformed into a USB adapter and plug right into any USB port. No card reader, no hassle. smile.gif

yeah, ULTRA II PLUS is cool but I guess many ppl will be hindered by its price:
1GB ULTRA II SD ~RM 300
1GB ULTRA II PLUS ~RM 400 sweat.gif

I suppose SD card + thumdrive alike USB reader is flexible & sufficient

Not sure about the prices in Malaysia. I bought the 1GB for AUD$120 (approximately RM320). It's worth every penny.
