Actually I'm quite glad samsung opts for SoLux display over sAmoled for S4. Really had enough of the screen burn in issue for my tab 7.7 and S2. Anyone with me on this?

galaxy s4 cases

Last time before iPhone 4s was released, alot of case manufacturers also dished out many types of similarly-designed cases for 'iPhone 5' making the rumors seemed authentic. But we all know what happened after that. So let's just take this one with a grain of salt too. biggrin.gif

only 7.7mm thickness!! rclxms.gif i wish this is true..
*
But previous leak showed the device to be quite thick. The design is not ugly but looks dated. How come it looks like S3? Aiyoyo Samsung!

Slim device means small battery and then you start complaining abt battery life. Give me another 2mm with a large battery anyday.

This obsession with design is very superficial imho.

The correct word fails me. Perhaps PeeEl can provide the correct word defining shallowness. tongue.gif
*
I bet the majority of us would opt for a device which is aesthetically-pleasing. This doesn't make us shallow. Just a preference. Welcome to the real world.

If you make a statement like that..it means SGS3 was the most aesthetically-pleasing device ever built as it sold with HUGE/HIGHEST volumes worldwide.
Bear in mind that SGS3 is an ugly looking device..even for my eyes lolz  laugh.gif
*
Now, I did not say S3 is MOST aesthetically-pleasing device in the world. Secondly, the perception of "aesthetically-pleasing" is fairly subjective. You may think that S3 is ugly but I find it "ok" but definitely not ugly.

Moreover, S3 isn't the highest selling smartphone in the world. iPhone still helms the title comfortably at the moment: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/02/20/app...q4-global-sales

S III is not ugly, if I find ugly then I won't buy already.

Just... S III don't have enough elegance & premium look.
*
I concur. It definitely isn't ugly. And I think it is still aesthetically-pleasing enough for you to make the purchase although it lacks the premium feel. Correct me if I'm wrong. smile.gif

The most apt word would be frivolous. But like so any topics, it boils down to nothing but individual preference just like the old adage, 'One Man's Poison Is Another Man's Meat'.
*
Or simply, 'One man's trash is another man's treasure'?

Touche. To add on, 'the proof is in the pudding' which basically means the innards are of more intrinsic value. But again, many will beg to differ which brings us back to our idioms.  rclxub.gif

Let's see what Samsung has up its sleeve tomorrow! Fingers crossed.

Though the Note2 at this point is un-paralleled (strictly my opinion), I still feel the size is a teeny bit big (again, my personal view). That's why I am looking at a 5" phone to emigrate to.
*
Gotta agree with you that Note 2 is a tad too big to my liking. Strange enough the size of this phablet has found its niche among many ladies I know (my missus included).

Too bad note 2 uses 720p display. Otherwise it would be great.
*
TBH, at 720p the screen is already very pleasing and razor sharp to naked eyes. Of course 1080p will be even better which will be seen in its next iteration.

That is your eye problem. 720p vs 1080p always different can spot.
*
True. Actually, there's noticeable difference between 720p and 1080p. Download a movie with these two different resolutions and play them side-by-side to appreciate the difference.

However, if you watch either resolution individually, perhaps you can't really tell the difference by that much unless you watch it on a big screen. Just my two cents

Right ! Time will tell whether the S4 will follow the success of the S3
And if it succeed, this will shut the mouth of all those who cursed/condemn it

Funny , Why some of you get so heated up over this. You don't like it, just don't even consider buying it. It is not a case of "must buy or die" decision. Go and get the HTC one/Butterfly or Xperia or LG or Nexus, whatever
Samsung is not forcing you to buy its latest S4
*
Haha. Like I have said, pls dont buy so there will be plenty of stock for those of us who like it. Uncle, you dont wait for 3 months. Let's take the plunge together and show off here.

It's funny how the miniscule facelift Apple gives iPhone is innovation and revolutionary but when samsung obviously improves on the screen ppl said otherwise. doh.gif

i think most ppl dont mind about the design. it's just that ppl want a premium feel for a phone as expensive as s3. it's a flagship phone afterall.
*
In terms of design, HTC ONE wins hands down, that's for sure. HTC One has the premium feel (which I also like)but be prepared for the high possibility of scuff-prone surface! Give and take. Your money, your call.

Oh ya, one more thing, I am still not quite sure if I'm buying the ultrapixel gimmick. I know it will outperform others in low light condition but the resolution itself is just not convincing enough (my personal opinion)

but picture quality tests has revealed the camera to be better than the iphone 5 and as good as the nokia lumia 920.
One thing though, zooming into those pictures would be a different story..
*
Yeah, they do look good. But, I doubt so if your displaying those pics on slightly bigger screens. Say on a 19 inch monitor or bigger. I'm just afraid it might lose the details that I want. Not saying the quality is bad. Just that my eyes are now pampered by higher res pics/videos captured by higher res cameraphones. I did a playback of videos captured by my missus' Note 2 on my 42 inch samsung smart tv the other day. So crisp, sharp and nice. If HTC One can do that too, I'm sold!
