technology and refreshes is moving too fast

my S3 still feel quite new (bought it on may last year on launching) and now S4 is out. duno whether time flies fast or what doh.gif
for S4....i don't think samsung will go with snapdragon proc, maybe just for certain US carrier specific models. if they go with snapdragon for their flagship then what's the point of their exynos proc? My guess would be a Exynos 5 quad or the Exynos 5 Octa. As for the screen type rumour, i do hope it comes with SoLux screen instead of S.AMOLED HD, or a S.AMOLED+ HD is welcomed as well.
anyway i promised myself not to get any smartphones this year (upgrading comp as top priority). but still hope samsung can be at the top of the competition.

Exy 5 Quad is 2 high core 2 low core (BIG.little). If Samsung wants to compete with Snapdragon 600 they'll need Exy 5 Octa at least since it's quad high quad low. And that's only a little better on battery saving wise because the BIG.little concept, the little(low) cores are only using Cortex A7. Also, it's not like Exynos 5 Octa coming any sooner, it's not really a bad thing if they opt for qualcomm, at least it shows that they admit themselves couldn't catch up qualcomm yet.

Exynos is not fully unlocked, I'd rather not have it, but I like Samsung for the innovation and the fact that they always include removable batt and micro SD. I've always wanted a phone with removable batt, micro SD, and a qualcomm top tier. If S4 is like that, time to buy phone. smile.gif

Some people/trolls don't understand that technology WILL meet its limit once in awhile and the thing that follows/comes after; the breakthrough, is what that makes it worth it.

The processors are going to stay quad for quite some time before everyone uses BIG.little or goes 6 cores or something. So before that, only thing you can expect is increase in GHz of a processor, or better BIG.little implementation or some crazy innovation stuff.

Screens, 1080 just came out ffs. And they are actually making better screens of 1080p already. The naming could sound like a gimmick but if they really do perform better in benchmarks or microscopic proofs, then why not, right?

If snapdragon 600 is the best right now and nothing sooner is coming, I don't see why everyone shouldn't use it. If 1080p is the trend but it is actually really better, it is then, not a marketing gimmick and all should follow because it is considered an improvement. And improvement is what us, android users, chooses and loves.

Let me just ask, how many of these trolls actually uses android since 1.6 or 2.2? Are they people that knows a little and start complaining when technology gets "boring" for them? Well why not you go create something? And let's keep iPhone out of the discussion shall we?

It's time to get one.. biggrin.gif
In these few months you get a number of good phone arrive that you'll be spoilt with choices  thumbup.gif

Or you can't decide any and end up not buying lol. Happened to me last year since S3, I have yet to buy a phone till now since then. Because them processors can't stop upgrading and I always wanted a MicroSD slot and removable batt. Looks like I should really buy S4 if the rumors are true.

Samsung phone always have that features..micro sdcard slot and removable battery. This year HTC Butterfly and Sony Xperia Z also have that same features.
Choices...choices  laugh.gif

Exactly my problem tongue.gif but XpZ bested Bfly in every aspect imo.

my advise to ppl is...

processor and ram will always improve and increase. there will come a time when people no longer look at these hardware specs but look at the overall experience.

so, as long as you can do what you want with the present models (and think you can continue to do so for the next 2 years), that is good enough.

in my case... Note 2 is just about right. i wanna be able to watch fullHD movie (only coz i'm lazy to look and store multiple copies of the same movie). note 2 and s3 can do that.

but i like big screen.

and ya... luckily... Samsung still have expansion slow and removable battery. i still quite traditional and would like them.

so, having said all the above... sometimes... even older models are good enough. and what more, older models will be more affordable once the new model is announced/ launched.

I was never a fan of Samsung. Well, never a fan of any brand really. But Samsung's decision to remain removable batt and microSD slots shows that they still care for tech enthusiasts that once rely on them so heavily for rooting, creating gold card, flashing ROM, etc. When HTC opted for non removable batt the first time (HTC One Series) I literally raged and did not calm down for more than half a day. Lol.

Back on topic though, RAM is so slow it is negligible. Processor however, are changing non stop. Note 2 is ALWAYS a choice for me. I love that beast. Sadly if I have the money for it now, I would've opted to wait for S4 or just buy HTC One when it comes. If I ever felt like I need a large screen and a stylus, I will not look further and could care less about 1080p or processors then. That's my problem, hard to decide. tongue.gif

Which is why I'm looking forward to S4 being my stop, my cure, my long awaited gadget.

Wait for Note 3. Even better  whistling.gif see reply to mydragoon above as well. For me, among all the brands, only Samsung gives me what I want in a device to date. Competition is good and hopefully Samsung maintains its tradition of cardslot and removable battery. Contrast Xperia Z to Galaxy Xcover 2. Both dust and water resistant, but Xcover has a REMOVABLE battery.

If I can, I will. Just hope S4 won't be too tempting. smile.gif

And i cannot believe that lte s3 is faster than international version one doh.gif

Woah woah, come again, S3 LTE faster than WHAT international? S3? S4? If faster than S3 international, normal. Faster than S4 international? That's an Exy 4412 against Exy 5 Octa.

I think he meant S3 LTE is faster than S3 International.

Anyway, old guys usually can't fully utilize smartphones.

Even some youth have problem with them nowadays, because they're getting faster and faster and what people do is just SMS/Whatsapp/Facebook/Twitter/etc and play some mini games...

It's like you buy a Ferrari and drive 50KMPH.

Then he shouldn't be surprised right? Blame Malaysia Carriers for not having LTE.

Some people don't change often. Buy a good phone once and for all as a long term investment. So that next time those "high-end games" are still playable.

To those complained about the design, I did too. But realized that Samsung is doing an apple, they want their phones to be spot on from a distance that it is a Samsung, thus the little changes in design.

sadly that's how it works to maximize market share, expect more model from apple we shall see
that's how i convinced myself compare with htc one x last year, not again though, im ready to live without it and get a premium looks phone this time round
i dont mind if the design is good, then they only did little changes. do you think this is the case now?
*
Subjective. I liked S3, so S4 is nice. Some hated S3, so this wont be nice as well.

QUOTE(LordDenning @ Mar 15 2013, 09:26 AM)
It's not to say Samsung designs is bad. On its own, it's pretty decent. But when compared to others, then you can truly see where Samsung stands.
*
I could never compare Samsung with others. Hell, HTC and Sony always come up with good looking phones that I almost buy them always solely for the design. But I could really care less, it's not a fashion thing for me, once I get a phone, put a cover on it, whatever design it has, is gone then.

For me design is very important, as I use my phones without covers/casings and screen protectors. I don't believe in those nonsense.

Of course with that, you have to be extra careful too. But it's not a problem for me. Just be extra careful and enjoy your beautiful phone.
*
Then buy a HTC. Like I said it's subjective. I'm not a fan of any, used to love HTC but the One series made me neutral. If you care about designs, HTC will always be better. I've always wished for a HTC design Samsung spec-ed phone.

I'm leaning towards S4 solely for removable batt and microSD. All those software thing I only see them as gimmicks.
Specs do somehow matter to me, and a 2600mAh with big.LITTLE processor is something really good to look for in a phone.

Let's talk about the IT PowerVR SGX544MP3 hidden in this beast and not compared anywhere.

Safe to say it has the most powerful GPU out there for a smartphone currently?
