I have to say, excitement for next Galaxy is almost nearing excitement for the next iPhone.

I like this quote from TechRadar:
the first Samsung Galaxy, the i7500, wasn't as good as the iPhone. The second one was, the third one was better and the fourth one's due in a fortnight.

Why Google Should Be Scared of Samsung

QUOTE(teckyang97 @ Feb 19 2013, 12:29 PM)
In the end, people only buy for calling, texting, whatsapp, instagram

QUOTE(teckyang97 @ Feb 26 2013, 11:00 AM)
The specs very nice, but in the end, people will only buy for calling and smsing only

Lets see after s4 come out,see how many people have without any apps and plain just for SMS,you should know now some people buy note 2 for what,go see yourself, you will know what i mean by your "troll"

QUOTE(teckyang97 @ Feb 26 2013, 04:18 PM)
And you can get less than RM500 smartphone runs both smoothly
*
So your only contribution to S4 thread is to keep pointing out how people will use it for normal phone functions. Thanks laugh.gif

I think he meant S3 LTE is faster than S3 International.

Anyway, old guys usually can't fully utilize smartphones.

Even some youth have problem with them nowadays, because they're getting faster and faster and what people do is just SMS/Whatsapp/Facebook/Twitter/etc and play some mini games...

It's like you buy a Ferrari and drive 50KMPH.

Your definition of 'fully utilize' may not be the same as someone else's...

If I use GPS navigation, GPS for running, streaming radio, FB and YouTube, Whatsapp and Wechat, Gmail, recorder and playback, video player, ebook reader, Flipboard, some games like Candy Crush and WMW, taking pictures and videos, image editing, recording expenses, taking notes, downloading videos, browsing Internet, translating languages, dictionary, wifi hotspot for my pals... is that fully utilize?

You might not be fully utilize for some people...
But, I think it's not far from fully utilize.

Under utilize will be like checking emails, facebook, youtube, etc and running some tedious games only.  tongue.gif

My point is, someone thinking he is fully utilizing his phone may not be the same as your idea of it, but his needs are fulfilled, and that's what counts... regardless of old or young man, male or female.

Design is important. There's something about S3/S4/N2 design which I don't like. I think the corners are too rounded. I prefer S2/iPhone4/LG4X type of design, squarish slabs of plastic. For rounded corners, Galaxy Nexus looks very appealing to me, especially with the curved glass.

But that's just me smile.gif

It's really interesting reading all the posts. It really fortifies what I have been 'studying' half my life which is the multi-facets of humans and their behavior.

To put it simply, 'to each his own'. And there are 2 sides to a coin. Having said that, let's see whether the sales of this S4 will out-pace its predecessor. In my mind, it will and I am willing to put a wager on it.

What... you've been 'studying' half your life to reach that conclusion? laugh.gif

S4 offers a lot of new stuff that I can see. IR Blaster, Smart Pause, built-in pedometer, etc. It will be a worthy upgrade to the dual-core phone owners of two generations ago (and maybe new smartphone / iOS owners), maybe not so much for current S4 owners.

QUOTE(PeeEl @ Mar 15 2013, 11:55 AM)
Perhaps the word 'fortify' escaped you.
*
There's also the other side of the coin - herd mentality. During your 'study', does the average Joe demonstrate a strong sense of independent decision-making (I will not buy S4), or does he go with the flow (I bought S3 becos everybody had one)?

I suspect a lot of people had individual opinions in the beginning but eventually succumbs to perceived societal and peer pressure in order to blend in. Public acceptance is so important these days, especially to the younger crowd (Gen Y and younger).

QUOTE(joytest @ Mar 15 2013, 11:56 AM)
Quot homines,tot sententiae

The Romans had a phrase for it already. However, humanity never really "learns" and always repeats the same sh**. However, it takes time for individuals to realize that in every generation. At least uncle already saw the light for half of his life. tongue.gif

Perhaps it can't be said for a lot of other people.
*
Ah Latin. The only Latin I know is 'carpe diem et memento mori'. Luckily there's Google tongue.gif

That's true, but the fear of rejection by peers make some people accept whatever others are preaching. Is there Latin phrase for that? hmm.gif

So... when is S3 price going to fall? Garage Sales shows no sign of it dropping... 2nd-hand still 1.3k... hahaha
QUOTE(joytest @ Mar 15 2013, 12:38 PM)
So would the hive mind be a good thing considering the phenomenon of herd mentality? We still need to judge for ourselves. Nice discussion.
*
Err let's be optimistic. Hive mind with individual opinions still exist rather than total herd mentality. Still got a lot of people out there with strong independent thinking smile.gif
