i do wonder though, should the k3 reach our shores, what would happen to the 2nd hand value of the existing 4 speed fortes'..will it still hold its value?

thanks guys coz i am pretty worried..coz if it really would suffer additional price drops then i really would have to sell it soon but my car is only coming to its 3rd year at the end of the year...apart from the slightly high FC and minor problems, its really a reliable car...so can't really think of any car that can replace it with all the goodies inside...

you're right,

they will be using the existing 1.6 unit with some tweaks namely the Gamma engine with the 1.8 Nu unit from the elantra... somehow they have phased out the Theta II (in my opinion is a crappy engine for a 2.0 N/A) so it might be a good thing..

but bro iz, i don't think they will raise the price too much coz it would directly go headon with Sime Darby, from what we can see their pricing is always higher than KIA's so i think it will still be somewhere around the 8xk-100k price bracket

can't compare bro, the only similarity of the THETA II and lancer's engine is the block itself, whatever that's inside is another story on its own, pistons, etc. the performance of the 2.0 is a really weak one altogether (power comes in late at 3k rpm onwards as anything below that feels rather flat)..other factors come into play too, the gbox, the ECU etc... what i can say is the 2.0 needs more boost on the low end

Talk about RV. There is a 2011 car 1.6sx sell at 68k on Jan 2013 (actual transaction) and sell within 2 day. The demand of 2nd Forte quite good and hot, especially for 6-speed car. Dun expect when K3 launch forte 2nd hand value will drop a lot. tongue.gif

Not necessarily Bro, the lumps from T and H are quicker to go even for their 1.8 units. Don't know it's due to the rims or the heavier weight, whatever it is not much can be done as this is the way it has been tuned.

I did speak to other 2.0 owners before, we are quite aware of what our engine is capable of. Probably its just the way it's tuned. I really don't know, I was just thinking about the other 1.8 units. Not even the 2.0 really. But yeah for low end torque like you said, forced induction is the best still.
