i do wonder though, should the k3 reach our shores, what would happen to the 2nd hand value of the existing 4 speed fortes'..will it still hold its value?

QUOTE(izputra @ Feb 20 2013, 09:41 PM) Yaa..i speculate that the 1.6SX K3 will cost no less than 90k & the 2.0SX will be no less than 105k. If the K3 pricing regime is still the same with the current Forte, i will be in deep shock actually. & if my speculation is true, i agree with u that our current Forte second hand price wont suffer much thanks guys coz i am pretty worried..coz if it really would suffer additional price drops then i really would have to sell it soon but my car is only coming to its 3rd year at the end of the year...apart from the slightly high FC and minor problems, its really a reliable car...so can't really think of any car that can replace it with all the goodies inside... |

QUOTE(g88 @ Feb 20 2013, 09:50 PM) you're right, they will be using the existing 1.6 unit with some tweaks namely the Gamma engine with the 1.8 Nu unit from the elantra... somehow they have phased out the Theta II (in my opinion is a crappy engine for a 2.0 N/A) so it might be a good thing.. |

but bro iz, i don't think they will raise the price too much coz it would directly go headon with Sime Darby, from what we can see their pricing is always higher than KIA's so i think it will still be somewhere around the 8xk-100k price bracket

QUOTE(izputra @ Feb 20 2013, 11:13 PM) If that's the case though, i still believe that the K3 price will be on the higher side than the current Forte. Anyway..we will know it sooner or later... can't compare bro, the only similarity of the THETA II and lancer's engine is the block itself, whatever that's inside is another story on its own, pistons, etc. the performance of the 2.0 is a really weak one altogether (power comes in late at 3k rpm onwards as anything below that feels rather flat)..other factors come into play too, the gbox, the ECU etc... what i can say is the 2.0 needs more boost on the low endP/s : if Forte 2.0 theta II NA engine is crappy, i believe the same engine used in mitsubishi lancer GT is also crappy in your opinion right? QUOTE(22222222 @ Feb 21 2013, 12:02 AM) Latest i heard, K3 will be around 10k higher than existing Forte and still maintain 1.6 & 2.0. and 2.0 will using new engine. 6 speeds should have good RV...i'm just worried about the 4 speeders... lol, i'm the last batch owner and my car is a year end car summore The launching date is end of the year somewhere around October ~ November 2013. But again, I "heard" oni. Talk about RV. There is a 2011 car 1.6sx sell at 68k on Jan 2013 (actual transaction) and sell within 2 day. The demand of 2nd Forte quite good and hot, especially for 6-speed car. Dun expect when K3 launch forte 2nd hand value will drop a lot. |

QUOTE(izputra @ Feb 21 2013, 03:46 PM) NA engine usually comes with this kind of characteristics. Go for supercharge/twincharge cars if want higher low end torque. Not necessarily Bro, the lumps from T and H are quicker to go even for their 1.8 units. Don't know it's due to the rims or the heavier weight, whatever it is not much can be done as this is the way it has been tuned. |

QUOTE(izputra @ Feb 21 2013, 12:19 PM) Hmm..i'm not sure u compare it with what car..but i drove the Civic 2.0, Lancer GT 2.0 before & oh ya..a Sylphy, all i can say is those car's pick up are more or less the same. Civic 2.0 got the best acceleration from my observation. Lancer GT is the slowest (in acceleration) however (Sorry Lancer owners..it's just my own observation only). So, to say Forte 2.0 engine is weaker than others is not a clear statement i believe. Anyway, if we are looking at the higher low end torque/power, the supercharge/turbocharge/twincharge cars are the way to go I did speak to other 2.0 owners before, we are quite aware of what our engine is capable of. Probably its just the way it's tuned. I really don't know, I was just thinking about the other 1.8 units. Not even the 2.0 really. But yeah for low end torque like you said, forced induction is the best still. |

QUOTE(esmond_SP @ Feb 21 2013, 04:31 PM) the 1.6 NA engine performance are about the same for most of the OEMs... the gear ratios do play important role as well.. see below the 1.6 engine performance curves on gamma and toyota's.... the torque are about the same on the rpm range... Thanks for the illustration bro, i do wonder though how the Theta II turbo's perform...we don't have the 2.0T here but on paper it does look impressive![attachmentid=3314973][attachmentid=3314976] if you really want to feels the kicks at low rpm, get the turbo charged engine |

QUOTE(bennedict82 @ Feb 21 2013, 07:37 PM) After 6 months owning this car, I found ada dua lubang like ekzos lubang kat bawah front seat. Kiri pun ada.. kanan pun ada. What are these? why don't you go back to SC to check? And my engine noise still there after I changed from BHP to Caltex... The noise like coming from under the air con, or gear box. Really sad The noise only started after 5-10mins drive. Anyone know.. please help. |
