Here it comes...

First don't allow fully withdraw at age 55, then increase retirement age to 65.
*
Sounds like it will be against with what they meant if they increase the full withdrawal age to 65. Even now they already allow partial withdrawal at 50.

I believe they just want the members to able to sustain their life after retirement hence locking up certain amount and become pension-like withdrawal.

For my case, I would prefer to leave my EPF money in there and withdraw only the interest. Not even all the interest, just part of it. I would prefer to withdraw only what I need and when I need it.

But frankly I am getting sick of all these uncertainties. Maybe I will just take out everything and earn a couple of percent less interest to avoid any future headaches.

They do have these scheme in place called Annual Dividend Withdrawal...

For the lock up 55 amount - it's only for a certain minimum amount. I believe if your money is more than the minimum amount you are free to do lump sum except for the minimum amount to be use for monthly retirement withdrawal.

I got this from kwsp site

I was saying 2 different things.

The annual dividend scheme is currently in place to only withdraw dividend annually..

The lock up amount is for the new scheme they are studying.

problem is if the starting amount is 240K rm, and cap withdrawal at 1K pm, it becomes a perpetual annuity...cos 5% div means 12K rm dividend already.

Then this will be even more draconian than SG's CPF version.... EPF want to keep our funeral and burial funds and more!!!!!!!
Any worse is everyone can only take out max 1K pm regardless of balance. haha

shocking.gif
EPF and gov really need to be better in communicating this to the public...
*
I believe it's not max RM 1K but should be min RM 1K...

Actually I will do monthly withdrawal thing voluntary but the thing is I need RM5k monthly and that amount to be increased by 3%-4% yearly depending on inflation rate and I guess this value will be different from person to person. If they use RM240k/20 years without factoring in inflation then my EPF can last me till maybe 200 years old. So my vote is NO and if they still do, I will vote the next PM who say can take out my money.
*
If you are able to withdraw ONLY 1K per month and still have the balance upon 75, then why should EPF want to lock your money if you want to take more than that? That is just plain mindless. Keyword is at least RM 1K and 20 years...

One drawback that i can think of is if the 240k can be offset any mortgage that should have higher interest rate than epf dividend, then member might be at loss.

For the immediate future, the parameters seems to be fixated at 20 years, 1K rm and 240K rm.... and the nonsense talk about mandatory vs voluntary and EPF is here to promote some senses, with a pinch of salt about new members being impacted.

These are the "parameters" EPF and PMX are pre-empting us about.

If we just focus and think about the parameters, we all pretty much can guess the extend of this can impact us....  hmm.gif

High High wealth amount... not a problem.
Low wealth problem: loss of freedom but could end up a good thing.
Middle wealth.... need to retweak one's plan.

** special category... too much EPF as % of wealth... as you said, re-eval
*
New members also can consider as new parameters being born since xx.

It think changes is inevitable. Workforce sectors now is not similar as decade ago. EPF will adapt to be relevant. Gig workers esp, don't have EPF. Should expect more changes to come, surely they will find a way to target these people.

you can tick yes for that.

not for me. i will have my own financial planning when i reach 55 ...

who wants to die without being able to enjoy their life saving?

pass all to char siew?

those who wanna leave it there, just leave. why force?

whats next? we use sgd as currency and abolish myr since sgd is so good?

why suddenly does epf feel like they have responsibility to manage people's retirement fund? social police?

later banks also look after our finances when we are old?
*
Imagine if epf no exist... till die also work... emergency fund also rely on epf... covid come, die die want take out epf
