Hi guys, sorry for this noob question.

1. Let's say I am withdrawing everything from Account 2 for properties in 2017. So the dividend only applies to Account 1?
2. If I am withdrawing Account 2 for house monthly loan, it's by monthly withdrawal or one shot? If one shot, how about future amount in Account 2?

1. Dividend is paid based on the balance on both.
2. Either way. If you still got future contribution, it'll partially go into Account 2. You can empty it again if you have sufficient amount to withdraw.

Okay, got it!

Can be as low of 5.4%
Which is just 0.05% above from the previous dividend rates...

Moving forward when 70% & above investment is in local market....

Dividend rate range is low...
5% ranges only... Hard to reach 6% above
*
Cilaka analyst give the range so high til 6.5%...give everyone hope.

Given this dividend rate.. Will it be better if I take out from Account 2 and put into house loan?

QUOTE(cybpsych @ Mar 3 2024, 07:27 PM)
that really depends on your current financial health lor

if you can plan and manage the epf fund reasonably good till retirement age, ok la

your house loan near ending? also good idea to clear it faster (my opinion).

if loan still new, you wont see much impact now. but impact to epf fund is noticeable every year.
how's your career? financial status? if you can sustain the mortgage, then no rush to use EPF, unless your trust in epf is low  laugh.gif

35 years old this year and house loan got 30 years old.. Lama lagi lol.. I can sustain the mortgage no problem. Just wonder if reducing house loan or continue keep in EPF will be more beneficial.

QUOTE(dwRK @ Mar 3 2024, 07:28 PM)
still no

Because EPF rate is still better?

keep in epf better la. return rate higher compared to paying bank loan interest. my loans all on maximum. extra cash i still dump into epf
*
QUOTE(dwRK @ Mar 3 2024, 09:13 PM)
yes. done the maths before...

even if same rate... money in epf better than settling the loan

epf dividend is compounding... whilst mortgage is reducing

best you do your own maths to confirm wink.gif

QUOTE(leanman @ Mar 3 2024, 09:28 PM)
This is what I did, took out about 180k to settle my housing loan where I was still owing about 210-220, cannot remember exactly how much. That time I think I have another 15-18 years to go. After settling that, I continued for another 3+ years and then loan fully settled. So nice when you are freed from that loan repayment.

But maybe not for your case as it’s still a long way to go..
*
Ya, that's the thing..the feeling with less years to clear the debts or debt free. Since I have 30 years more house loan, if I can use EPF to clear it to 15 years and reduce interest, it's still better than nothing right? But the calculation is too complicated for my brain...so I don't know keep in EPF for compound interest for 15 years vs shorten house loan for 15 years is better.

But since dwRK did the calculation and many mentioned that it's better to keep in EPF..I guess I'll do so haha

but how to calculate average inflation
*
QUOTE(beLIEve @ Mar 3 2024, 09:34 PM)
Average inflation is very very low lah. 3% is above average inflation already.
*
I put 3% and assuming I retired at 55 years old...I am 35 years old this year so 20 years more to go. Assuming after I retired, I need to have money until age 80...so the retirement money need to last 25 years.

Not sure how much stuff will cost that time...I wonder if 7k monthly is enough or not also assuming no debts sweat.gif

Here's something to help you. A simple calculator solely based on your EPF balance. See how much you can withdraw before it runs out. You can add more years if you want.

Ah..Dividend is always calculated by the total sum on Dec every year?

As in I put in one shot on Dec and the dividend will be on the final total on Dec?
