Just like the old story on why butter was losing out to margarine, and a market survey was conducted to find out the reason... when anyone, any child, man and woman, can tell that soft margarine is so easy to spread than butter when taken out from the fridge.

Nevertheless, the nation-wide market survey was still funded... Why? The simple reason was that the survey was funded by other people's money. biggrin.gif

Guess EPF shall come out with better idea to ensure the lower income group are more secure on their older age rather than letting those rich using their money to get richer by dumping money on PRS sort of sure lose money funds.
Something like first rm100k getting 8-9% of dividend, second rm100k gets 4-5% and third rm100k onward gets 3%.

EPF would have Islamic Account option by 2017 which may give give different dividend % than the "conventional" one we have now.. Reason for giving different rate because Islamic assets give different return than conventional assets..

The question now in my mind is, which one would give higher dividend rate drool.gif

I may be wrong here with my analysis.

I take it that ASBX follow the Islamic rules in their investment and they give higher dividend rates than ASX (come to think of it, ASX also follow Islamic rules but with lower dividend rates). Different degree of Islamic?

If I remember correctly, I thought I saw EPF or ASNB as one of the major shareholders for BAT (or some company along that line). ???

ASB "special" case compare with others ASx.. both also follow "Islamic rules" but invest in BAT blink.gif

EPF also the same..

I think some people demand EPF to have "pure" Islamic account because they don't fully trust EPF investments thus the idea to have shariah compliant investments nod.gif

If only EPF still able to payout your money.

Right now the biggest worry is other sinking entities in goven might be looking towards EPF for borrowing. If borrow with payback then EPF dividen will continue to go up. But if borrow and finally go bust then EPF will get bad debt. wink.gif

All financial institution in the earth does not have the true cash as they stated in their account.
They are using human's money to roll and at the same time make them rich first.
As long as not all human going to take it out once at the same time, nothing will happen.
So, don't speculate and follow the rumors blindly.
MBF is the best example.

The law of averages works well under normal circumstances but it does not handle bad or severe circumstances.

It is everyone's guesses now if we are in critical situation now.
