11k + 12K epf self contribution
12k company  epf contribution
65k salary

just increase your self contribution.  no need to trouble the HR.

Sure why not if you run the company yourself,
Or If the Company is  willing to help, HR just submit a form to KWSP and increased  employer portion to 19%
and  reduced  your salary accordingly, nett you draw same amount from Co,
just that you take home cash lower and more in KWSP. u gain pay lower tax, company no loss also.
When i ran my own company, i  put my employer KWSP portion 25% for myself, and sleepy accountant  without realising it
claimed that full 25% from tax. Actually Co can only claim tax relief to max 19% of staff salary. any extra  Company lose out as it cannot deduct from company profit.

ok i figured out the answer to my question. i can self contribute more to epf.

how?

by transferring money from my bank savings account to epf account. this can be done once a year for convenience. because i need to fill out a form submit to epf.

but

this won't be recorded in my pay slip.

here this just now at the coffeeshop...next table people arguing....
EPF dividend announce on Feb 22 and a/c reflected on 22 Feb 2020 also. (assuming a/c balance after 22 Feb 2020 is RM100 000.)
assuming there is no NEW fund added into the a/c for the whole 2020 year...For Next year dividend will this RM100 000 get full dividend? or the dividend received on 22 Feb 2020 will be pro rated?

I believe the dividend for 2019 is added as the opening balance for 2020 ledger.
If so, yes it'll be entitled for full dividend in 2021.

Dividends are prorated based on the days the money sits in EPF accounts.

should be full 100k x 12 months.

Cause the dividen earned is for 2019, it just took them time to work out the calculation etc and announce on Feb.

The announced Feb 2020 dividend will be calculated from 1-Jan-2020 onwards. Hence for 2021 Feb dividend announcement, you will get full per annum amount for the Feb 2020 dividend declared.

Confirmed for many years from my own calculation. This year my calculated dividend difference is 1.7 cents (RM0.017) only, probably due to rounding up/down issue.

There's no direct relationship with OPR movement.
With local and external economic conditions aren't improving fast enough, 2020 dividend is definitely lower than 2019.
I'm predicting it'll be at the range of 4.75% to 5.25%

is there an admin cost for employer to have variable instead of fixed epf contributions for each n every employee?

i mean, the HR will need to submit forms to epf jevery time change the percentage?
*
no and no.

Your payslip, if done correctly, will have 2 columns for you. 1 for statutory and 1 for variable.

You are to submit the form, not your HR. Print out the Form 17 AHL, fill it, get payroll (or your manager) to sign, company stamp, submit to EPF, get EPF photocopy, EPF stamp photocopy, submit to payroll.

https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2020...ril-to-december

"The new statutory contribution rate for employees will affect April 2020's wage (May 2020's contribution) up to December 2020's wage (January 2021's contribution) subject to the Third Schedule of the EPF Act 1991.

However, employees may choose to maintain the current contribution rate of 11% by completing Borang KWSP 17A (Khas 2020) that will be made available on the EPF website at a later date.

"This form must be submitted to the EPF via employers and will take effect from the following month.

Just to share from my experience previously, the form is to be filled by the employee (ie worker) and handed over to HR. HR will take over from there. Also, depending on the size of the firm, HR may request the employee to fill another form, which happened in my previous experience.

Best to contact the HR department to find out the proper procedure. I suspect different HR has slightly different practices.

some did it not for with the tax relief in mind but to have a place to try to grow their money better than FD
(with min 2.5% with EPF,,,,,,,with the current global economic challenges,....the FD rates are forecasted to be getting lower and lower.....)
