QUOTE(Ankle @ Mar 3 2024, 12:31 PM)
The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has announced a dividend rate of 5.50 percent for conventional savings, with a total payout of RM50.33 billion.

The EPF also declared a 5.40 per cent dividend for Shariah savings, with a total payout of RM7.48 billion, bringing the total payout for 2023 to RM57.81 billion.

This marks an increase from last year when the EPF gave out dividends of 5.35 percent for conventional savings and 4.75 percent for shariah accounts for 2022.

For the financial year ended Dec 31, 2023, (FY2023), the retirement savings fund recorded a total investment income of RM66.99 billion, a 29 percent increase from RM51.91 billion in 2022.

“Out of the RM66.99 billion in total investment income, RM5.72 billion were generated from mark-to-market (MTM) gains of securities that have not been realised and will not be part of the dividend distribution.

“It has been the EPF’s prudent practice of paying dividends only out of realised income,” it said in a statement today.

In another word, Q4 make 19.13bil (With MTM) or 18.03bil (without).
Q1 15.6 bil
Q2 17.59 bil
Q3 14.67 bil
Q4 19.13 bil

During first 9m, they did discloused; A total of RM42.71 billion from the RM47.86 billion investment income was generated for Simpanan Konvensional and RM5.15 billion for Simpanan Shariah.

This year, their perception management performed badly. On first 9m, they failed to emphasis 33% increased of net profit are based on much bigger AUM size, and let media shout on 33% on YoY instead of "% return on AUM".

During pre-dividend last few weeks, public expectation already set way early with many shout prematurely 5.8 & above, before more someone trying to bring in realistic figures 5.6-5.8. And yet, end result are lower than 2nd expectation. Disappointment is unavoidable as higher expectation already set in much earlier.

added: Btw, mark-to-market thingy are misleading and pose unrealistic illution. So long profit hvnt recognized, the investment may go south, its like counting the chicken before it hatched.
