hypothetically you can use past trends as avg for dividends moving forward.
since every year % differs and fluctuates, what would be your basis to lay your 'bigger retirement foundation'.
surely this year's announcement itself may not be conclusive for your decision.
if it's high, you want to to increase permanently? what if next year's divvy dips?

just wondering  hmm.gif

My 2 cents on this ....

I do not add more if I see a higher EPF %. Just glad in my head that my fund has grown a bit more than I expected.

Yes, lazy man investment style! Ha.

Account 2 money can be taken out if you have a house and still paying installments to the bank.

It has been officially confirmed that 2015 dividend for EPF would be "COMMENDABLE". COMMENDABLE in light of tough economic conditions that is.

Based on previous calculations at 5.8% and + any balance of undistributed % (i.e. reserves), I would deduce that it will definately be less than 6.75% (2014) and may be more than 6.25% (2013).

I put the finger on 6.0% to be prudent. COMMENDABLE in light of tough economic conditions.

Very surprised and impressed that EPF means what it says on announcing the % after CNY. Announcing on the last day of CNY. I hope that consistency and integrity go from top to bottom! Ha.

Worries me a bit on the delay. Why? Difficult to get the accounting done? Trying to find some extra $ to jack up the %? Don't want to hurt the chinese feeling with the bad news during the CNY?

Ha.

P/S My "prediction" on the announcement date has been way off. doh.gif

Now asking myself will my 6.1-6.3% also be way off? icon_rolleyes.gif

Once wrong forever wrong? Ha. notworthy.gif brows.gif

You pretty much summ'd it up.

Way too many people don't have life insurance. As soon as they saw the news that they would have more money every month by not needing to contribute to EPF in a compulsory manner, they throw their hands in joy and not knowing they'll end up paying more at the end. That's why I said I wonder how many kena trap.

my life insurance premium is around 1440 per year... should i got for 8 or 11% then

Look at the following words from the Sin Chew article :-

EPF deputy chief executive officer (investment) Datuk Mohamad Nasir Ab Latif said earlier the 2015 dividend rate would be declared after the Chinese New Year holidays, and that the rate was expected to be good.

EPF dividend rates for the past six years:
2009: 5.65%
2010: 5.8%
2011: 6.0%
2012: 6.15%
2013: 6.35%
2014: 6.75%

- See more at: http://www.mysinchew.com/node/113124/tid=1...h.u8HWmmZf.dpuf

If the Deputy CEO dares to comment that it's going to be good, then I would really like to see what the EPF terms as good. .... We must define 'good' here, and from this definition, we can predict for future divvies.

doesnt matter what EPF says, it doesnt hold any "water" if under-promised anyway.

proof it with any number higher than 2014's 6.75% thumbup.gif

That's the point,....they have not promised anything for the divvy yet, they just said 'good',... so,..what is good ? I would like to see their definition of 'good', since the word has been uttered.
