QUOTE(pinksapphire @ Jul 9 2013, 05:43 PM) If anyone's going to be applying for this card and wants it fast, take my advice and don't apply online. Until today, I still haven't received the confirmation call on my application status...it's been like, 3 weeks now? I feel like strangling myself for canceling my initial application with the branch (which took only days!!) and changed it to online submission just because of the stupid Samsung S4 draw. The nightmarish wait is giving me unnecessary headache and I hate it. Imagine if I really could get the card, it'd be months before I get it versus 1-2 weeks max through branch. Got multiple calls from them approximately after 2 days of submission. It was on Monday and Tuesday. I didn't picked em up as I was having meeting. They called me up again on Wednesday. Submitted my documents on Friday (28th June 2013). Monday 1st of July called me up again to inform me that it has been submitted for processing. Till now I've yet to receive any feedback. ps: I applied online. This post has been edited by LoveMeNot: Jul 10 2013, 02:07 PM

QUOTE(pinksapphire @ Jul 10 2013, 03:33 PM) You didn't follow up with them on the status between 1st and today? So you don't know if your application is approved or not, yes? I'm giving them about 10 days before I start bugging them. And yeah, I don't know if it is approved or not. But the guy I spoke to on the phone mentioned that my application shouldn't have any problem because I've fulfilled all the requirement. In fact I'm over-fulfilling it. So if they do reject mine, they gonna get a piece of me.

QUOTE(pinksapphire @ Jul 10 2013, 03:54 PM) 10 days is a long period of grace time, you should start checking now. I had initially told them I need mine to be ready fast, fast, fast. Yet, my case is so unlucky. Ended up 3 weeks and still stuck. Do you know how many times I had to email the agent just to push for it? Imagine if I didn't, prolly months also nothing gets moving. Just now I called up hotline instead of agent (because she can't do crap) and was told my card is going to reach my branch next Monday. Normal processing period is 2 weeks, so the hotline girl told me my case is considered abnormal. I'm still considering whether to write in a complaint or not. Just called up OCBC to inquire about the status of my application. It was approved today. So, total processing day is 9 days for myself.

QUOTE(Ricky300 @ Jul 12 2013, 03:05 PM) Hey guys, Just a quick check. I received a call from OCBC telemarketing asking for 3 months payslip and EPF statement. Is that really necessary? More so, their website only statement 1 month payslip or epf statement instead of 3 months payslips and epf statment. What if I apply at the Curve booth? Need to provide everything? This is what has been emailed to me. Complete and sign the OCBC Credit Card Application Forms (Total 3 Signature) Photocopy of Malaysia IC copy (both sides with applicant signature) Latest 3 months salary slips(Min basic salary RM3000) Latest 3 months bank statements show salary is credited ** if provide online bank statement need the login page copy show your name I provided them with everything. Don't want them to give any reason to reject my application.

QUOTE(Ricky300 @ Jul 12 2013, 03:21 PM) I'm thinking to apply at their booth. Lazy to scan them all the documents. If they rejects me, I will not apply their card in future. hahaha.... I thought if you apply it at the booth, you will still need to send them the documents? Apparently OCBC card is difficult to get approval (from what I've red over here), don't know how true is that though. So be ready to get rejected then

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Jul 16 2013, 12:48 PM) Mine is exactly 3x my given salary. RM5000 is the magic CL for this card as spending under the 1% catogery will give you the max RM50 rebate already. You mean spending RM5000 under those merchant which offer 1% cash back? I don't quite get you about the magic CL. So if my CL is way higher than that?

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Jul 16 2013, 01:09 PM) This is a pure cash back card. Lower limit: RM1000 If you ONLY spend under the 5% catogeries (dining, utility, grocery and petrol), you would max out the RM50 monthly rebate by just spending RM1000. Any other usage will not give you any benefit. Upper limit: RM5000 If you ONLY spend under the 1% catogery (NOT dining, utility, grocery and petrol), you would max out the RM50 monthly rebate by just spending RM5000. Any other usage will not give you any benefit. You may utilize or spend more but no points will be given. My point is, high CL is not very important with this card p/s this does not include the RM10,000 annual usage bonus or other promo. or you need the CL but no other CC. Right..Got it Thanks alot for taking your time to explain.

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Jul 16 2013, 10:47 PM) Weekend: use Amex whenever you can 5% + 5x > Else use OCBC for the 4 categories 5% > Use OCBC for other catogeries 1% Weekday use OCBC for the 4 catogeries 5% > Else use AMEX when it is accepted 5x > Use OCBC for other catogeries 1% Keep track whether the max rebate is reached or not. Tips: Buy shopping/dining vouchers during weekends (can be used during weekdays) Thanks! About the tips on the voucher, honestly, never thought of this!

QUOTE(mjchua @ Jul 17 2013, 09:28 AM) don't know... but the branch officer asked whether to collect at branch or post to my house address. so i choose house address. so how many days u collect from branch after approved ? I called customer service to check the status with my ic number, it is approved, but i never receive any sms... is this normal ? I was told by the CS that I'll receive sms to inform me about the collection. I did not received any too. Mine was approved on 10th July. I was actually waiting for the sms. Waited till 15th July and yet to receive any. So I called up the CS again and was told that it is already delivered to the branch. Went over to collect on the 16th July. 16th July itself received a notification letter at home to collect the card. This post has been edited by LoveMeNot: Jul 17 2013, 09:37 AM

QUOTE(mjchua @ Jul 17 2013, 09:41 AM) so you never receive any sms...? sifus here said will receive welcome ocbc sms ? Received it after the card was activated. Prior to that, no though the CS said I'll be informed about the collection through sms. The best is just call them and ask. Save time.

Can I re-apply again or appeal directly? Did you ask why is it rejected? No point appealing if the reason is still there.

QUOTE(mjchua @ Jul 19 2013, 10:10 AM) I think more important is the payment record. if too clean, no record can trace. I also heard somebody apply housing loan, but dont have any record to trace (no credit card also), at the end the loan also rejected. if you have a few loan, i believe that's no problem, bank can trace your repayment records. Thanks alot QUOTE(Human Nature @ Jul 19 2013, 10:23 AM) Too clean here means there is no history of credit. It does not mean late payment, any penalty, etc. Some banks would like to check on the person's ability (or trend) in making payments on time, no default cases. OCBC is pretty strict. Try to send an appeal letter, refer to page 1. To be honest, I don't quite understand, people here keep saying "OCBC is pretty strict when it comes to card approval". Why are they so strict? Any idea?
