the mirage really looks pleasing to the eyes.

saw it at a car park that day, definitely look more solid and well built compared to P1/P2.

The Mirage was tested as an A segment car though. When the i10, an A segment car, was tested as a B segment car it got 2 stars. When it was tested as A segment car it got 4.

The mirage and i10 are obviously A segment cars.
The Australian ANCAP site seems to group the mirage along with other larger cars, such as honda insight together.
Both mirage and insight gets 5 star ratings. very good!

Mirage imported from Thailand.

Thailand government got tax incentive for car with low CO2 emission + mileage of 20km/l and above.

Thailand also got produce 1.0l JDM version of Mirage as well, IIRC.

1. RootOfJesse gave the result based on ASEAN NCAP, not the ANCAP.

2. for this test ASEAN NCAP, they used cars which are sold in Malaysia.

3. Kadajawi said that those A-segment cars (Myvi, i10) were tested according to B-segment criteria.

4. DO NOT SIMPLY ASSUME that cars that passes ANCAP with flying colors should have the same result with ASEAN NCAP.
why?
Different specifications will have different results.

pls. observe the specs mirage sold in malaysia:
http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com.my/mirage...d-equipment.php

with the tested ANCAP specs:
http://www.ancap.com.au/pdf/510.PDF

u'll notice safety features superiority of ANCAP tested model compared to malaysia.

Thank you thank you thank you very much. all the suggestion n opinion i m truly appreciated. I heard alot 'story' abt Saga, so i think i might erase it from my list(but the price of saga is so attractive >.<). Since thr is number of ppl suggest me go for Mitsubishi Mirage, actually i like the design n it is 'imported' car, hehe but i heard tat spare parts/ components for Mitsubishi cars r very expensive and not really easy/convenient to get it too. Pls correct me, if i m wrong. And how abt Suzuki Alto, any Alto owner here, mind to share abt it? Thx ^^

How old are the stories? The Saga has been on the market for a long time, horror stories from when the car was just launched need not apply these days. Personally I'd get the Saga for space and big car feel (compared to the others on the list). Mirage, Alto, i10 etc. are just A segment cars, competing with the Viva.

Saga FLX really bigger space and overall really value for money.
The only quite slightly bad FC on City drive.
The rest is prefect car.

yup...the mirage in ANCAP archive 5 star is becuz of 6 airbags and ESC
for 50-60k in malaysia, there are no "safe" car at all
u'll need to spend at least RM100k here to get those 5 star car
the cheapest 5 star car is proton preve...see suit u or not only
but the mirage being a somewhat JDM car...the quality is pretty good....FC is by far the best among all the car TS listed
handling wise, better than myvi...only bodyroll is noticable

65 to 70k, Ford Fiesta.

The Saga FLX+ is also not too bad considering the price.

A car needs ESP for a 5 star rating. Side airbags make no difference for the tests that ASEAN NCAP is doing so far. Otherwise there is no way the City could have received 5 stars.

Hi eveyone,
I am planning to buy a new car. Now I m considering
1. Suzuki Alto
2. Myvi 1.3
3. Saga FLX 1.3
4. Mitsubishi Mirage

or any other car that you guys can recommend is also appreciated, my requirement is very simple
- good fuel consumption,
-low maintenance, easy to maintenance
-mostly city driving, occasionally for highway driving
-budget ard  50K

Thanks alot.  biggrin.gif

for bolded part above..
i suggest you should also consider a SERVICE CENTRE near to your place...
for me it's quiet inconvineant to travel far away just to do a routine maintenance service espeacially if you buying a new car...

Just test drive all those and let your feeling tell you which is the one. Add i10 into the list though.
